ready for summer!

As I look down my 'friends list' I notice that so many have now switched over to blogger - for various reasons. Talk about seasons....

One season I've noticed that stays the same (in the majority) is the spring fever we all get in relation to school. I remember when I homeschooled that, come Spring, I was weary, antsy and anxious to be done

Anyways, this year being my first Spring not homeschooling - the burnout feeling still came. I'm done - with getting up 'on time' everyday, with homework, projects, etc. I'm itching for school to get out. I've heard of public school mom's who dread the summer when their kids will be home all day with them but I'm not one of them. I'm looking forward to summer with the kiddos!

So, my plans:
My kids get out of school May 17th. I plan on NOT setting an alarm clock for the entire rest of May. WooHoo!

I'm planning on having plans. No, 'I'm Bored' comments. Or the thought that we wasted the summer away. I'm looking into craft ideas, fun day trips, etc. Not to overwhelm us with activities but to take advantage of the 3 months we have with 'no school'.

More reading together... One idea I have is to read through "The Chronicles of Narnia" with the kids. I read the whole series this winter and LOVED it!

Getting back to the chore charts. I kinda got them going again with 'chores' because when the kids started school in the fall, I decided to 'go easy' on them at home. Now it's time to get our act back together and be in a good routine when fall comes around.

Oh, and I plan to do some cooking lessons -just basic things. But I think I was doing some solo cooking/baking at 8 years - my oldest's age. I don't want no slacker/lazy kids!

And come fall, another season will begin. My youngest, who will be 4 in July, will be heading to preschool. Not for academic reasons, nor social reasons really but because I feel like this is what God is asking of our family. Yes, another season will begin. Sigh.

So, those are my summer plans. What are yours? with school. And I remember reading posts, by many of you, that were transparent enough to reveal that you felt the same. Call it burnout or whatever, we're itching to be out of school mode in March. (I realize there is a few superwomen who could 'do school' 12 months a year for an eternity. I just think you're a minority! :o> )

Valentine's Couple

My Beloved and oldest daughter went to a Daddy/Daughter Date Night last night and had a ball. Aren't they a smashing looking couple? This event was sponsored by a neighboring town's youth center. They had dinner, a dance and made a craft. Definitely, an evening planned for a little girl!

popping in

Sitting here in front of the fireplace, jammin' out to Misty Edwards leading worship (IHOP in Kansas City) via my laptop...mmm, nice.

Since I'm pretty much just glued to the chair, I thought I'd pop in and say hi to all my hsb'er buddies. I've enjoyed reading your Christmas happenings. We had a crazy Christmas, but nice. We did a lot of traveling within the week, including some without kiddos.

I'm hoping to get all my Christmas decor taken down, including the tree, this weekend. Am I late? I'm really liking lounging this week, since I didn't get much down time in December. It won't last forever though so I'm trying not to enjoy it too much.  :o)

Grace and peace to you all. Til next time....

driving me crazy

It was really bothering me that my links and friends list wouldn't show up. And because I am html-challenged, all I could do was find a template that automatically brought them up so here's the new blog doo.

Visit my other blog...now listed in the links!

9 weird things

OK, I'm back but just briefly. Rachelle tagged me and I couldn't resist - but didn't want to do that over at the other blog.

So here it is,
                        9 Weird Things About Me

1. I have an extremely eclectic taste in music. I pretty much like it all...worship, jazz, country, rock, even the heavy stuff as long as there isn't alot of screaming, classical, hip-hop, pop. I just really like music.

2. I danced for the very first time - this past summer with my husband at a wedding reception.

3. I delivered, naturally and at home, my little Robi bird - 20 days past my due date. Along with that - I delivered all 3 of my ladies at home, with just My Beloved, my mom and a friend of my mom.

4. I often wear jeans to Sunday morning church - and I'm the pastor's wife.
I know, I know, it borders on sacreligious - but I have my husband/pastor's permission.

5. Though, I often wear jeans to church, I really like dressing to the hilt - wish I had opportunity to do so every once in a while. Like a ritzy dinner party or something.

6. I've been leading worship for over 12 years - and I'm only 28.

7. My husband and I are 16 1/2 years apart. And I LOVE it - and so does he. ;o)

8. My Beloved is the best preacher I listen too. He challenges me, makes me cry and makes me laugh - fabulous preachin'.

9. I have a serious cup fetish. If you ever want to buy me a gift - let it be a cool mug or some fancy glass.  :o)

So there it is, all the weird things you ever wanted to know about me!
