Well, the year 2008 is but a memory now. It came and it went. This new year is bound to be full of change! The candidates told us so...the President-elect promises it. We shall see what happens.
Our Christmas was wonderful, spent with our close friends, the Disbrows. They put up with us again and make us feel so welcome...truly blessings to us. It is hard to beat a roaring fire, a beautiful tree, fun gifts to open and lots of laughs. Thank you Michael and Shirley for so much fun.
The day after Christmas, we headed for the snow in WA to spend a week with Mom and Grama. Kolton was able to go with us and that made our trip even more special! Bryan was excited to introduce his best friend to his Nonna. We had to shovel the driveway to get to Mom's house! That area up there on the Penninsula is always hit hard with snow and this year was no different. Mom said 2 feet fell and more was in the forcast.

Did I mention that this was Kent's first vacation in 2 years?? Well, it was, and he was so happy to relax and not be bouncing down the road in his semi! We were thrilled to have him home.
As always, it was great to get to Mom's!! There is nothing better than coming home. We opened gifts and started Canasta....love it! I got a Panini grill...I have wanted that for a long time! A highlight for Bryan and Kolton was playing a PC game with Nonna, who LOVES video games! She gets into it and goes a bit nuts. The boys loved getting her into the action and she was glad to leave the grownups in the other room!!
So, there is the recap. New Years was spent playing games, watching the Seattle fetivities on TV and keeping Kolton from the Chug-a-lug...since we promised his mother....It was happy and fun and a fitting way to enter the new year. The only thing missing was the rest of the family, who were all in other parts of the country, doing their own celebrating.
I usually spend New Years Eve mildly depressed, thinking of all the things I did not do in the last year. That did not happen this year. Maybe I am more content, satisfied, and grateful for all God has done. There was nothing to lament....life is good! I am thankful for my family and friends and for the life I have. Happy New Year!!! Thank you God for every little thing!!!!
