jayfromcleveland -- a christian homeschool dad from cleveland, ohio

cleveland, ohio is a place that looks the same in black and white and color photographs; it is a city of sharp contrasts and shades of grey; a single city that was once two, forevermore divided along east and west; where the Sun doesnt shine at all for half the year, and yet is one of the sunniest places in the USA for the other half; the birthplace of Superman and home to many an average joe; a place of tremendous creativity... home of many artists, musicans, actors and inventors -- and an otherwise hard-knuckle, provincial midwestern city; a place where people are friendly, helpful and generous... just don't get on their bad side; a place of hope and despair, where the light of Jesus shines in many an otherwise dark heart....

Our Angelfish Tank

In the unlikely event this blog still has any readers, here's a vid of our angelfish tank.  It just doesn't get any more exciting than this around here!

In Spring, 2006 we got the two silver angels (Michael and Jerry) and the gold angel (Gabriel). These guys are tough -- they survived a bad parasite when they were little. The other two zebra angels (Seraph and Cherub) were added in Spring, 2007.

Signs & Seasons Animation

Check out the animated book preview for Signs & Seasons, our new astronomy curriculum.

For more information and to order online, please visit our Signs & Seasons page at the Classical Astronomy website.

These books are just sitting in piles in our basement since the homeschool curriculum season has passed unsuccessfully.  Please consider helping our family through tight financial times by ordering a copy.  A lot of people have said nice things about the curriculum.  Your family will learn some things you've always wondered about.  Thanks for your support.

fromcleveland wins the Rockin' Girl Award

Our friend robinkay has seen fit to award me the Rockin' Girl Blogger award.  Rockin' Robin is so sure that I'm "secure in my masculinity" that I won't mind putting this "Pretty in Pink" banner on my blog.  Hey man, WHAT-EVER!  After siring five children, three of whom are boys, I don't have to prove my manhood to anyone!  But that doesn't mean I'm going to start wearing lace underwear!  Besides, Robin's "one of the guys" so I'll have to find a suitable way to pay her back!  (When she least expects it -- so watch your back!)  Hey Robin, tell Batman I said hi.  (Bet you haven't heard that one since 5th grade!)

Okay, the deal is, I have to pick five girls to pass on the award, who then pick five of their own ad infinitum until the entire blogosphere is composed of Rockin' Girls.  So here's my pick:

debbiefromcleveland -- I'm sure everyone will agree that I'd have big problems if I didn't pick my wife.  However, the Deb-striss hasn't blogged in nearly a year, so I'm sure the statue of limitations has expired on her bloggerhood.  But since Gena hasn't yet deleted her blog, she's still on the books!

TOSPUBLISHER -- THIS IS OUR FRIEND GENA WHO OWNS HSB, SO IT'S GOOD POLITICS TO BUTTER UP THE SITE OWNER!!!!!  HER BLOG HANDLE IS ALL CAPS, AND EVERYONE KNOWS THAT ALL CAPS IS HOW YOU SHOUT ON THE WEB!!!!!!

JenIG -- I'm sure the ever-popular TOSPUBLISHERSISTER gets picked all the time for every award in Blogville, so what's one more?

JeannieFulbright -- As a big time homeschool author and speaker, Jeannie is much too busy to blog, but maybe she'll pencil us in for another post if we make enough of an issue!

LaurieBluedorn -- Speaking of busy, in addition to reintroducing our generation to the riches of the past, this lady is preparing for the marriage of her daughter!  Wonder who Laurie would pick for her five Rockin' Girls?
