Today is our 19th anniversary! Wow, you mean 1988 was that long ago already? Can't deal with how quick time flies. Check out that pic from our honeymoon. What a couple of cute kids, huh? (Nice mullet, dude!)
We're not going anywhere today. Neither of us bought anything. That's one thing I love about Deb, she's very practical, not very "girly," and cuts me a break on the "Male Guilt Holidays." She's a real keeper.
So maybe we'll save our time and money for next year and do something worthwhile. Here's what I wrote for last year's anniversary called I LOVE MY WIFE! It's even truer today than it was then.
In honor of 19 years of wedded bliss to my wife Debbie, here are the lyrics to Tom Jones' 1970 super-smash hit, She's a Lady. Truly friends, this is great love song because it's presumably what the singer is saying about his wife to other guys! But even thought it's pop music, the "lady" in this song has many of the virtues of a Proverbs 31 woman, "whose price is far above rubies."
Well she's all you'd ever want,
She's the kind I like to flaunt and take to dinner.
Well she always knows her place.
She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner.She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady.
Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine.Well she's never in the way
Always something nice to say, what a blessing.
I can leave her on her own
Knowing she's okay alone, and there's no messing. She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine.Well she never asks for very much and I don't refuse her.
Always treat her with respect, I never would abuse her.
What she's got is hard to find, and I don't want to lose her
Help me build a mountain from a little ball of clay. Hey, hey, hey.Well she knows what I'm about,
She can take what I dish out, and that's not easy,
Well she knows me through and through,
She knows just what to do, and how to please me.She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady and the lady is mine.
