• Oct. 1, 2008 - Fending for Myself... I Don't Like it.

My life continues... even without an older sister in the vicinity to push it along the track.  Yes, my dear Eyebright is gone, has been for two weeks.

She has gone to stay with my Aunt to help with little ones. My Aunt lives much to far away for frequent visits.

So, life continues, but in a different manner. I am now adjusting to the fact that I am "oldest" at the moment. I must say I don't feel I'm doing a good job.

The other day while talking to a friend of mine about it I started to say, there are some good things about it, like I always get to sit in the front seat of the car, and... and... I couldn't think of anything else! I still can't. The fact is the cons list is much larger then the pros.

I've not just lost my older sister, but my best friend.

So if you are also a friend of Eyebrights, and have been wondering why on earth she has not posted for two weeks. That would be why.

• Sep. 27, 2008 - William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings

My mom is starting something she calls Blogbooking. Below is a sample of some of the different things you can do to make your blog post look something like a lapbook and/or notebook. I made up my questions from out of my history book, The Mystery of History, Volume II. If you don't want to create your own questions you can just use the questions out of your book.
The flashing buttons are something you would need a Photoshop (or similar) program for, but the other sections just use HTML, quiz generator websites, and of course the simple type and add image to a post skills.

Queen Matilda was William's wife and she was very handy with a needle and thread.

After the Battle of Hastings...

What did William's wife make him?

The Bayeux Tapestry.

On what day was William Crowned?

Christmas day, 1066

Harold Hadrada was the King of Norway and he invaded England because he wanted to become king there as well.

• Sep. 27, 2008 - Last week at the playground...

Posted By Snow Crystal

The first three are of me climbing a plastic log at the playground that is at a resort down the road from us.  It was fun!  The last one is of the monkey bread I made with my mom for breakfast this morning.  It was good except that it has pistacchio pudding in it instead of vanilla.  That turned out gross!

That same day I started some therapy to strengthen my body.  It was fun!

P.S. If you want to see more pictures of my trip to the playground, you can see them at my Mom's Blog, or at my sister's blog:  MountainPrincess

The first two are SnowCrystal and I at a playground near our house.  The third one is of me behind a neat, twisted tree at the same playground.

That morning I went with my dad to a ministry called Sharing Ministries and volunteered with him.  It was all about getting food ready to give away to poor people.  The people sign up for the ministry and come in and get a box of food for free each month.  I used a sharpie and marked out UPC symbols on the donated food so that it couldn't be brought back to the store for money.  It was fun.

Over the past couple of weeks I've read 2 awesome book. I thought I would share my reviews about them!

Photobucket

Island Girl by Sandra Byrd~

This entry in the Friends for a Season series tells a good story, punctuating it with scripture verses and other religious ideas. Thirteen-year-old Meg is spending the summer, as she usually does, on her grandparents' Oregon berry farm. But this year things are different. Tia, the daughter of the farm's Hispanic overseer, could be a friend, but there are hurdles to overcome. Meg's mother and her husband are about to have a baby, and Meg's dad, an army colonel, may be leaving the service, causing Meg to wonder if she should move and live with him on the farm. There are two overriding themes here: Meg's questions about where and with whom she should live and the nature of her friendship with a girl of another culture

My Review - I LOVE this book (and any book by Sandra Byrd for that matter). It was just a fun book to read. Byrd makes her characters sounds like teenage girls. From the usual sarcasm to using a really girly nail polish. She also ties in a need for God in each characters life.

Red Velvet~By Sandra Byrd

Friends For A Season Book 3- Thirteen-year-old Quinn finds herself spending a lot of time at the hospital lately--her mom is undergoing experimental treatment for cancer. When Quinn reads her mother's teen-years diary, she discovers a list of things her mom has wanted to do before she dies. Though reluctant to face the prospect of her mother's death, Quinn determines to see that her mom accomplishes everything on the list. She teams up with her new friend Annie, whose mom is undergoing the same cancer treatment, and the two decide to sew their mothers red velvet dresses for an upcoming Valentine's Day party

My Review - This book was beyond awesome! My review kind of goes back to what I wrote about Island Girl..lol

Life's pretty normal around here. We had a armadillo in our pool at 3 o'clock in the morning 2 weeks ago. Long story short. By 2 hound dogs chased a armadillo into our pool. It was really funny 2 see it doing the dog pattle around our pool. Co-ops going well, so is photography. I dyed my hair. It the darkest brown you could get it. My old color was driving my nuts because it was growing out. I also got BarlowGirls new Christmas Cd off of Ituns. Now I know its not Christmas but I LOVE this CD. Its so awesome. So of BG best work.

In Christ

• Sep. 25, 2008 - Wow! Just Wow!

Posted By Bluejane in My Out of the Blue Horse Dealings

Some of you may have seen the link on my side bar that leads to the blog of Shelley Simmons and Samson. Competitors in the 2008 western states mustang challenge.

Shelley and Samson did not win, but I was amazed after watching the video of the winner. Even someone who does not know horses would see that this is incredible.

Just so you really know how WOW this is let me remind you this horse was trained in three months.

I would love to have a horse like this!
