Ken has returned!!! I'm not sure if I posted this or not but last week, our friend Ken, left his aquarium...or so we thought! I looked for him all over the house hoping to find him before I smelled him. I had Jake take the tank outside after I had dug around in it for about 30 minutes...looking for Ken...hoping that Ken would be there. Well, Jake came in this afternoon hootin' and hollerin' that he found Ken! I asked him where he had found him and Jake said "In the aquarium!" Sheesh...the little punk had been there all along...I guess that camouflage-thingy really does work! lol!!

Last night, Belle and I decided to go to Jake's Scout Pack meeting at Emmanuel Baptist Church up the street. It's a very nice church and very welcoming...a real pleasure to visit. Of course, Belle had to check out the bathroom..because that's our favorite activity right now...so we headed off to the bathroom at the end of the hall off of the fellowship hall. Now, we are Presbyterian and I've seen only a few church bathrooms decorated (is this a Presby thing?? I don't know!) so you can imagine my sheer delight when I walk in the bathroom, flip on the light and look over at the counter....and there is a CROWN!!! OK, ok...so it's really a plant holder but it's plantless and it really, really, really looked like a crown...and since I am a daughter of the King I found it very appropriate to don that crown and take a picture! I also got a picture of Belle...she thought it was a hoot that we had found a crown in the bathroom and that we were taking pictures! We had a great time in that ol' bathroom! lol!!

Some of you may be wondering if I took the absolutely wonderful mushroom picture that is at the top of my blog. Well...I didn't. All the credit goes to my dad who ever so carefully laid the camera on the ground and snapped a photo of the mushrooms in his side yard. I was really impressed with this photo so I stole it from him...I didn't really steal it, I've just been slack on getting his name attached to it...and truthfully I'm not really sure how to do it. So, please notice in the sidebar under Graphics there is now a link to my dad's business and a "Thank You" for the picture. I'm sure my dad would be willing to share this photo as he is such a "Glory Hog". You can reach him through the business e-mail address in the sidebar!! |

I stumbled upon a site that reminded me of the time I made a little journal book for Belle out of a small box of Rice Krispies. I was in the hospital with Gus...he was sleeping a lot and I was bored out of my mind. I didn't want to leave him so I played this game with myself...I tried to see what different things I could create using only the items in the room. My best creation was the little journal book. The binding was the ribbon off a little stuffed animal that was in Gus' bed. I think it's neat to find ways to re-use/recycle things and this site has done just that...and yep, they have used "reclaimed food boxes" to make journals, note cards and post cards!! The postcards are my favorite!! Check out Tiffany Tomato Designs. |

We are having some construction work done this week at the Hidden Pines...we named our house and property Hidden Pines because...well...we have no pines therefore they are "hidden". lol!! Anyway, the wonderful dear Principal (my dh) called a week-long Holiday and I'm really glad! It is really hard to compete with hammers, pneumatic nail guns, ladders, etc...I am going to count at least a day of school though...you know...for doing some vocational studies. While the kids are "relaxing" this week, I'm going to finish my major decluttering. I can't wait to have the construction finished and my house decluttered!!
Here's some pictures:
We were only going to have the roof replaced over the front porch...then it was discovered that the whole porch was about to cave in due to water damamge. So, we're getting gables! We are now officially "over-budget"!! LOL!!
Here's our very nice construction workers. This company we are using is really good. We're very pleased with their work and they way they are treating our property...and they way they are being so nice to the kids! You can see the water damage in this picture...
We are having our lower back deck replaced and a French Door hung. I'm really excited about this...I can't wait to entertain out there.
This is our first gable almost completed. We are having the house painted and some repair work done on the bricks. Our porches will also have round columns instead of square ones...we're getting fancy at the Hidden Pines!
I hope to post more pictures later this evening so the progress can be seen. |

I loved when Steve Irwin said this. In memory of The Crocodile Hunter I've compiled a short list of Aussie words...
Billabong: An oxbow river or watering hole Freckle: Your bum. Walkabout, it's gone: It's lost, can't be found.
Though these words are fun to say, it's Steve Irwin's great work in the conservation of wildlife that we should remember. His love of the animals was evident and taught us all a lot.
Read about the Irwins and see some pictures. Let's all keep this family in our prayers. We have certainly enjoyed watching The Crocodile Hunter over the years and I am sad that there will be no more...
