• Jul. 4, 2006 - No Cookout

I am disappointed we are not having a cook out this 4th of July. Mike has to work tonight and we are just staying home. I think the heat is getting to us!!!!!!!! It has been so hot and we have not had any rain in a while. I hope and pray we get some tonight (after the fireworks) and tomorrow. They are calling for it. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

• Jun. 21, 2006 - Traveling Days

We have been traveling so much these last 4 weeks. Last week I took Trevor to camp and then went to stay with my Nanny. It was nice! I got to visit with my aunt and uncle, my cousin and her husband, and her beautiful kids. She just had a baby a couple of weeks ago and she is so sweet. I don't get to see them much so I was a treat to just spend time with them. We went to the creek and the girls had a ball. We went to Montreat and played. I got alot of great pictures and it was wonderful. Trevor had an awesome time at camp! He loved every minute of it! The road the camp is on is real curvy and Shelby got car sick. Yuck! She was fine after we got off that road. When we got back DH was happy to see us. He had been by himself all week. Shelby and Abby started ballet classes on Monday and Trevor started his bass lessons on Tuesday. So starts our summer schedule! Hope everyone is having fun!!!!

• Jun. 6, 2006 - Longtime, no talk!!!!

I have been away for much too long! But, it has been for a good thing! We have been on vacation and it was great! We went to Virginia to see family and friends. It was so nice and relaxing! We took 10 days and took our time. We stayed with my in-laws and we had great fun. They have a pool and the kids loved being able to get in it practically everyday. Then, we went to the beach with my brother and his family! FUN FUN FUN!! We went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg with my mother in law, sister in law, her boyfriend, and my niece. Then, my brother, sister in law, 2 nephews, and 2 nieces met us up there! Also, our friends came up there. All together there were 10 kids and 8 adults. We were a crew!! We got to go to my father in law's car show and that was neat! I am going to try to blog more later. Abby is climbing all over me and the computer for attention.

• May. 19, 2006 - Best Day Yesterday

We had the best day yesterday. A friend of mine brought her two boys over and I watched them in the morning so she could get some stuff done. She watched my girls in tthe afternoon so that I could do a couple of things. When I went to pick them up they were having a ball. I proceeded to sit and talk with my friend and we talked, and talked, and talked! The kids just kept playing, and playing, and playing til we looked up and it was 5:30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW time flies when you have good girlfriend talks!! The kids played so good together~~ ALL DAY LONG!!! _____________________________________ My wonderful husband is outside trying to fix the lawn mower. It has been the "thorn in his side" this spring. About a month ago he spent $50.00 getting new blades and all kinds of stuff for it. He was so excited to use it ( he loves to mow;~) Well, he went and bought the gas for it and poured it in~~it all started running out on the ground. Then, it wouldn't start~~ not even a sound of trying to start. He was so bummed and he didn't have a lot of time to work on it so he is just now getting a chance to look at it again. Now, I know what you are thinking~~~boy, their grass must be high!!! No, in fact, Trevor and I borrowed a lawn mower from a friend at church and he mowed it a couple of weeks ago. It needs mowing again that's why Mike is trying to fix our old, tired riding lawn mower! Did I mention that we have almost two acres and Trevor push mowed it. It took him nearly 6 hours. He split it up over two days. Such a sweet young man!!

• May. 15, 2006 - We're Still Here

We are still alive!! Abby is doing much better!! She just suddenly started clearing up. Her doctor said that she could have had scabies. (we did a treatment for these but wasn't sure if it was exactly what she had) I had never heard of them before so I looked them up online. Has anyone had a run in with this? We did find out that our backyard is crawling, literally!, with poison ivy. Not sure what all this stuff was but I hope it is gone for good!! My wonderful husband and beautiful children cooked lunch for me yesterday and gave me flowers and cards!! It was a lovely day! I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. Thank you to everyone who prayed for Abby and thank the Lord she is doing better.

• May. 10, 2006 - Abby's Ailment

We have been to the doctor twice since last week and they have not been able to determine what Abby has. I am kind of frustrated and alot tired:~) We have not been getting much sleep. Today, the dr said she thinks it may be a virus, atypical measles, or two rashes together. No answers yet. She looks like she has millions of bug bites and it is everywhere. If you think about it please pray she will get better or they will find out what is wrong so they can treat her. We go back to the dr on Friday afternoon.

• May. 5, 2006 - Stumped

Somebody help me~~~ Abby's splotches are NOT an allergic reaction because we all have a rash now~~except Shelby. I have looked on the internet and can't find anything about it. It kinda looks like poison ivy and it itches very badly!!!! I have a call into the doctor, hopefully she will call before the end of the day.

• May. 4, 2006 - Red Splotches

Abby has had an allergic reaction to something. She woke up yesterday with a swollen left eye and red splotches all over her little face. I called the doctor's office and they said bring her in at 11:00. All we have to do is give her Benadryl every 6 hours and watch her closely. It has actually gotten a little worse but I guess that is okay. We are going to a baseball game tomorrow night with some friends of ours. I hope she feels better by then.

• May. 3, 2006 - End of Semester

Mike is taking his last exam right now and then he will be done for the summer!!!!!!!! YAh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Baby!!! We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel~~so to speak. I am so thankful that we are priviledged to live the life we are living. No~~we don't live in a fancy house, no~~we don't drive fancy new cars, no~~we don't make millions of dollars(hardly thousands:~), no~~our names are not in lights(no one would be able to pronouce it right anyway:~) Nope don't want all that! Thank you, Lord, for the life we are living at this exact moment. We are very blessed. If we spend our time waiting for the things mentioned above we will miss LIFE.

• Apr. 28, 2006 - Friday, Friday, Friday

Today was our MOPS day. The girls and I got up and got ready. I made a some spinach bread, which was very tasty, if I do say so myself. It was very easy, too! Can't get much better than that! It's not that great for you though! AWWW~~you can't win them all!!! We had a great meeting at MOPS and I came away very refreshed. When we got home, we ate lunch then Trevor and I went to clean the church. The weather was so beautiful today. I love to ride with the windows down and it felt good to do that today:~) I am reading in the book of Numbers for my read thru the Bible( it is supposed to be a year but it is taking me a little longer). Anyway~~~ it has been kind of dull so I spiced it up a bit by counting objects~~like, did you know in chapter 29 they sacrificed 229 animals in 8 days and in chapter 33 there are 44 places listed that the Israelites lived while wandering in the desert. Now, I don't know about you but 44 places in 40 years sounds a little like military life:~) Well, I guess I've rambled on long enough. Hope everyone who reads this has a wonderful, glorious, heart-enlightening weekend!!!!!

• Apr. 27, 2006 - Dinosaur World

What a terrific day for a field trip!!!!!!!!!!! My MOPS buddy, Jenny, her two boys, and me and my two girls drove to Kentucky today to Dinosaur World. We had the best time! The weather was great, the kids were in a good mood (and mommies, too!!) We had a blast just doing all the stuff and letting the kids play. We got alot of great pictures. The drive was nice because Jenny brought a Barney cassette and they listened to it in the back of the van while we talked up front. We had a picnic lunch and they had a playground that the kids loved. There were lots of school kids there, but they cleared out about 12:30. Thank you, Lord for a great day with awesome friends:~) Oh, and they had a homeschool special so the tickets were discounted WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• Apr. 24, 2006 - Okay, it got better!

I have to blog and say that my Monday got better! I have had an okay afternoon and I have gotten over the blahs. I have looked over all the things my 6 yr old has done this school year and it cheered me up quite a bit. It is so nice to look at the things we have done together and know that we are a team. Also, Trevor has done well this year. It has been a difficult year of transition from public school to home for my 9th grader. We are doing good though and he is slowly coming around. I need to get him in a good co-op that has a good group of teens. Yeah, Monday is okay~~not waiting till midnight anymore.

• Apr. 24, 2006 - Let's skip Mondays, okay?

Are there enough moments in the day to do IT all? AND what is "it all" anyway? My house will never look like a showplace and really~~would I want it to?????? Anyway~~~~ Mondays are difficult here and it is very overcast here in Nashville which makes it 10 times worse!!!!!!!! So~~~we will just muddle through and be done with it at midnight tonight!!!!!!!!:-) Boy, to read this you would think it is awful here but it isn't!!! We are just out of sorts on Mondays. Mike is tring to finish up school and needs lots and lots of prayers!! And I need prayer to deal with him and the kids!! YEP, we'll be fine at midnight tonight!! LOL

• Apr. 21, 2006 - IT Worked!!

The planning worked! I was able to breath when I arrived at church on Wednesday. I felt at peace when I slid into the pew on time and had my book AND Bible. I was able to focus on what was being said instead of, did I turn off the stove? the iron? did I close the backdoor and lock it? lock the van when I got to church? It was a very pleasant evening! Also, my kids were better because I wasn't hurrying them every second. I was calm and cool which was reflected in the kids.

• Apr. 19, 2006 - Good Planning

Last week my Wednesday evening wasn't so good. Due to my lack of planning. We had a good day of homeschooling but at 5pm it all fell apart. SO~~~ today I have done things differently!! I have already made supper this morning and made preparations for the girls. I know that most of the time when I stress out it is because I have not done the things I need to do. I'll blog about how everything went tomorrow. We'll see!!!

• Apr. 17, 2006 - Monday Ramblings

Looking back at other posts I failed to write about a great blessing. The van was fixed very simply~~ Thank God!!! Mike changed the oil and it stopped making that awful noise. Of course he felt very guilty for letting it go that long. Like he has not had anything else to do. I was just thankful that it was nothing serious. Trevor just brought me all his work for today. I am proud of him. He did 2 days of school today because he missed Friday~~ we took a holiday. He wants to finish early because church camp is early this year. Mike only has 6 more class days before the end of school. If you think about it would you please say a prayer for him? He has lots of things to complete in a short amount of time. The girls have played in their room almost all afternoon with very little conflict. I am grateful for that. They have a good time together except when one of them tries to be the boss. I remember those times as a child~~~ playing with my cousin, Christel, and both of us wanting to be in charge of whatever we were doing at the time. OH~ the memories of childhood~~~what good fun we use to have!!! We are having a TV fast and it is wonderful. We have not had the TV on for over a week and I am not missing it at all. In fact, I am ready to have a yard sale and sell all three of them!! We could use the extra money!!! Isn't it amazing what we allow ourselves become slaves to~~~money, debt, food, TV, people's approval, success, etc etc etc.

• Apr. 16, 2006 - Are there times......

Are there times when you think if you are "obligated" to do one more thing you are going to explode???? Are there times when you feel like you are the only one that can do ANYTHING???? I am at a place where I know I need to give up something but I'm not quite sure what it should be. I have a number of jobs at church and I know that the Lord is calling me to let some things go. I like to help and our small church needs lots of help. I am praying that God will show me what I need to let go and what I should continue doing. Homeschooling is something I know my husband and I are called to do so that is not in question. Neither is working with Mike's nursing home ministry---- but you know how it is when you are spread so thin you can't do the best job in any of your endeavors! I am feeling that way and I know there has got to be a change. I'll let you know later what God has told me to let go. Meanwhile, I will plug along and listen for God's voice. OH~~~ HAPPY EASTER~~~~CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• Apr. 12, 2006 - Why is it?

Why is it that you have a good day of homeschooling and have kept things fairly neat all day but right before getting ready for supper everything falls apart?????? Today was a pleasant day and then 4:00 hit!!! I knew what I was making for dinner~~ we had to leave at 6:45 to make it to church on time~~~ but everything fell to pieces!! I think I expect to get too much done during that hour and a half. My 15 year old officially hates anything to do with numbers. He will read anything you put in front of him but he just can't deal with Algebra. What should I do to motivate him? I'm at a loss! Probably because I hated Math once too~~~ Well~I do get kind queasy when he comes to me with a question.

• Apr. 12, 2006 - Abby's Birthday

Abby's Birthday was the 4th of March and I didn't blog about it. It was on a Saturday so we went to CiCi's pizza and ate lunch. We spent the whole day together as a family. It was very nice. The day before we went to Jenny's house and had a playdate with her friends from MOPS. We had lunch and ate cake. They played and played and played some more!!! We had a good visit because the moms got to have fun and the kids had a great time.

• Apr. 10, 2006 - Birthdays

WE ARE FINISHED!!!!!!!!! We are done with birthdays in our house til next year!!!! Yesterday was my birthday and I am the last birthday in our house. It was a nice day~ busy with all the stuff we do on Sundays. My Dh was so sweet and the kids were too. We had a wedding shower at church last night and it was so nice. The couple that is getting married are such sweet people. You know I was thinking about this blog and how I don't write about homeschooling so I guess I should at least write a little.
