There have been a few birthdays of people we love in the last two weeks and all of them have succeeded in making me feel old. First two of my childhood friends each turned 30, which just threw in my face that my turn is fast approaching. Today my dad turned 58, which doesn't exactly seem old, but I remember with great clarity when my dad turned 33...so thinking that today he was 58 made me feel like my life was just flying by.
And then I recalled that my Cabbage Patch Kid, Celestia Kelly, shared a birthday with my dad. She is 21 today. I am old enough to have a Cabbage Patch Kid that is old enough to drink!
My dad is in far better condition than my old plush companion - which is as it should be. But fond, warm, fuzzy thoughts of both my Daddy and my dolly today. And I thought you were only supposed to feel older on your own birthday.

Great post!
I liked this entry. Life is flying by and I'm approaching 30 myself. My goal is to not look like a Cabbage Patch doll when I get there...but I'd settle for Rainbow Bright if I got to have the cool rocket boots.
Enjoyed your blog

Ahhh, I feel your pain. There are only 24 days until I turn the dreaded BIG 3-0 and I don't know how I will make it through!
Of course most days I wake up and think, "I'm just a kid. Who are all of these kids and why do they keep calling me Mommy!"
I also vividly remember my parents being in their 30's and THEY WERE OLD! ;)
Oh and my Cabbage Patch Kid, Hinda Avivia, reached the ripe old age of 21 this year too!
From your mom...
Oh, Jen...your thoughts on this were good to read on this morning AFTER your father's birthday.
I love you, honey.

I think one should worry about turning 30 only if they are not expecting to hit 40. That's me early next year.. I hit forty. 30 is no biggie. Now FORTY is a BIGGIE!
Blessings,
Maria

Boy, I don't even have any of my Cabbage Patch kids anymore. Much less remember their names and birthdays. My oldest one is probably 22 though.
