Apr. 1, 2008~ Tightwad Tuesday ~ |
Hello. I had a couple of weeks where I just could not think of an unique way to save money, but I am back with this one. Actually, this tip will only save you money if you are a cleaning supply junkie. I have to fight this urge of mine to buy the new and trendy cleaning supplies, the ones that look like they will make your life a dream! (Does anyone else share this deep rooted problem? )
In the past, I frequently bought those conveniently wonderful moistened cleaning wipes. I admit it. I did try the store brands, but found them pretty lacking in size and thickness. So, I purposed not to buy them at all, as I already buy paper towels and a cleaning product. But I missed the ease of having them already made for me. (You know save a step where you can! )
So, when I got this neat little book at the library yesterday, and I saw this simple idea, I just had to share it. Why didn't I think of this? I can just make my own. All you need a sturdy air tight container with a lid, your favorite cleaner, and folded paper towels. Now I can have them ready for my Flylady style morning Swish and Swipe of the bathroom. (You do that, don't you?) This will save me, oh, probably 30 seconds a morning! And not to mention all the other times I need to quickly wipe up after the kids!
Have a wonderful day! Be sure to check out more Tightwad Tuesdays here.

| I have also made my own ready-to-go cleaning wipes out of paper towels. I couldn't get the link to your library's site to work. Could you please tell me the name of the book you found? I would be interested in seeing if our library has it. Thanks! |

I really like those little premade towels, but don't buy them because of the expense. I am going to give these a try!

Happy April 1st :)
When some friends and I were into stamping arts (making cards, etc) making our own stamp cleaner was just like what you are sharing now. We made our own baby wipes too, but some ink needs the "cleaner". so we all made up our own stamp cleaner hehee. btw baby wipes are great for cleaning too, if you get the refills that are super cheap, they clean up dusty dressers, back of toilet, etc and the kids can use them! :D
stop by my son's /striker blog for some april fool's fun :)

That is a great idea. I should try to make those since my little kids often use wipies during their clean jobs.

My baby wipes were moistened with baby shampoo, a little rubbing alcohol and water. They worked great, but it's even cheaper to use a damp washcloth.

I use to make my own baby wipes. I bought specific rubbermaid container for it, cut a roll of paper towels in half, and poured in a mixture (for the life of me I can't remember what it was, I think water with baby shampoo, something like that). Anyway, let it soak in there for a few hours, then the cardboard tube comes out easy and you pull the paper towels up from that middle hole. I used way past when the kids were baby, and just kept them around as wipes. It was great. :)
