~ Show & Tell: Living History Museum Opening ~

Good day to you and thank you for choosing to visit my blog today.  If you'd like to see more Show & Tell posts, please go see Mary aka Canadagirl.

Thursday was a day that had been marked on our calendar for months, the season opening of Conner Prairie .  Yes, I've blogged about this marvelous place before many times, but truly, it is a different place each time we visit.  Thursday was no different.  Here are a few pictures.

We observed this rooster for quite awhile, learning his ways.  We decided he was the dominate rooster out of the two at this barnyard.

This little guy was getting a bottle when we happened on him.  We just missed our chance to feed him.

Triplets were every where in the Conner Barn!  Triplet lambs pictured here and triplet goats.  The farmer said more triplets are on the way.

Here are my favorite triplets.
This is Blue.  He is in training to be an ox.  His other half, Red, was in another pasture.  We've seen them grow over the last few years.  It is amazing to watch them work together wearing their yokes.

In addition to the above encounters we...
  • dipped candles
  • helped make biscuts and cookies
  • hauled fire wood
  • had a 1800's school lesson on statehood
  • chatted with the doctor about herbal remedies
  • learned about 1800's money system (cutting coins into bits,  2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits a dollar)
  • watched iron being forged into a tool
  • watched a log being cut by hand into boards
  • petted newly hatched ducks and chicks
  • swept a floor
I can't wait to go back next week!

Please scroll down for my Thankful Thursday entry, if you are reading this on Thursday!  Thanks.  Have a great weekend.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting that recipe in last week's S&T. We made some of the cookie sandwiches this week. That's what my S&T this week is about.

Hope you have a great weekend!

That looks like such a fun place - I wish we had been with you too (a big group). Love the triplets - the lamb hardly looks real, it's soooo fuzzy. Very cute!

I would love to go back to Conner Prairie, but dd always says, "No, I didn't really enjoy it." I am wondering if maybe she was just too young the last time we were there.

We even passed by there when we went to a used curriculum sale in that area, and she still didn't want to stop while we were close by.

By the way, do you know of any curriculum sales coming up in that area? Isn't there one that is a "trunk" sale out in the parking lot? I'll have to try to check back with you and see if you will be at that one this year. Perhaps we could meet!

Looks like fun!

So fun to see your pictures. What a fun mom you are! Tried the cookies with red velvet cake today. They are ok, but rvc is really all about the frosting, so this will be the last time we make these. Have a great weekend!

I love Corner Prarie! We went there a few years ago - there were so many of us in our family they told us that we should buy a yearly pass. We did, but then we didn't make it back there again. :(
That place is soooo neat.
I love the baby cow - pic #2 - he is just too cute.
And the lambs - I wonder what kind they are. I never see sheep that look that good in real life.

I'm trying to make my way to at least visit everybody's S&T before duty calls me away. I'm glad you are first, jenn! Oh, how delightful. I MISS my animals! *she sighs*

Conner Prairie. Hmmm...we have a Conner Prairie Road here. I wonder if it's the same "family" who might have gone West 100 years ago.

Sometimes with triplet lambs, one is rejected. It looks like here, however, mama loves them all.
