I debated about taking a spring break and then the question was answered for me when I agreed to babysit three days this week. I knew if I babysat our lessons would have to be put on the back burner, so this became a perfect time to take a break from our normal routines and earn a little extra money. Learning never stops, so I felt comfortable with this arrangement, plus we have no OT, PT, or Olympians this week too! Yippee!
The kids and I spent time outside yesterday after church getting our backyard "play ready" while our hard working daddy was at his second job doing taxes. We emptied the sandbox of the green sand, washed it out and let it dry. Then we sprayed the deck that it sits on and used a squeegee to get the water off. By the time we went to pick Daddy up from work, it was dry, so we stopped at Lowes and got our annual play sand fix.
We had such a nice evening playing outside that it was hard to go in. The kids needed rinse off showers, so I had to relent and go inside early enough to get them to bed before the end of Sense and Sensibility started! (That was dh's plan! He is really into those Jane Austin stories now.)
The next few days I am going to work on a some projects while keeping an eye on the kids. Today, I am going to make chicken and noodles for dinner in my crockpot. And sometime this week, I want to start a compost pile without spending any money. Anyone know anything about easy ways to compost?
Sounds like a nice week planned! I've considered doing a compost but don't have a clue how to get started. I'm not sure if Hubby will go for it either. lol! He can be funny about those things.
Sounds like a good day. We have a compost bin that my hubby made from scrap lumber - kinda like a square trash bin without a cover (I'll have to take a picture for you)- about 1" slits between boards. Just throw in anything that is organic - egg shells, greens, potato peals, weeds, grasss clippings, pet manure, etc. Let it collect all summer and then spread it on your garden after fall harvest or around trees - but only spread aged (6 months or more) - if you put fresh compost/manure on plants, it will burn them.
I hope you accomplish much this week. I am researching composting but of course everything is different here in Alaska with our shorter and cooler summers! I have been saving all our kitchen scraps for a month or so. I keep them in 5 gallon lidded buckets to add to a compost pile when the days are warmer.

It sounds like a great week is planned. I hope things continue to go the way you want. I think this has already been said, but use a garbage can for the compost pile. :)

I am watching "Sense and Sensibilities" tonight. I can smell those chicken and noodles cooking. (-:
I wish you blessings with your projects. This is great week to tackle them, as the weather is inspirational!

Hey! Glad you had a good day. I thought the Jane Austen movies were done. I just finished reading Mr. Darcy's Diary--so good! It is P&P from his perspective. Fabulous! What a sweet hubby to watch them with you!
That is so funny your DH is into the JA movies now hehee. My boys like them too. I wish we could get PBS, it's all static in this house :P My dd wants the movies and books for her birthday (end of the month!)
Yes the money is good, I used to do it full time, but so glad I am free now. I wouldn't mind it once in a while though ;)
I've been watching the Jane Austin series on PBS! It's so wonderful!! But, my hubby won't even glance at it! Oh well, at least it's quiet while I watch! The other day, while I was out and about, I saw that Crayola makes blue colored sand for kid's sandboxes. So, maybe you were onto something with your green sand! Blessings, Kelly
