Apr. 30, 2008~ Wordless Wednesday: Caught in Action ~
Note: This is not my photo. I found it on Photobucket, so I assume it is free to use, because it is a photo sharing website, right?
Last night, when it was dark, we finally caught our own little bandit red-handed eating the suet cake I had just put out that day for the birds. We knew someone other than the birds had been eating it. I thought it was the squirrels. We've had one entire suet cage disappear. So now we have to figure out another plan to feed the Woodpeckers. It was too dark to get a photo last night, so I resorted to Photobucket.
Have a great day!
My mom was just telling me how they had to move all of their feeders very far from the house recently because they had a crew of very large raccoons coming right up to their deck to eat all of the seed.
They thought it was cute until one day when my mom thought all of them had left and went to open the door and the biggest most unafraid of her raccoon was right outside the door. So the feeders will be kept a safe distance from the house for a while. Those raccoons are pretty darn bold.
A couple of years ago it was bears that were getting into the feeders!
Oh I love this! Dont you just love photobucket. We used to have a family of raccoons that would come and eat our scraps. (I know that is so bad of us) they loved bread :-)
I just thought I'd share a tip that I got from my mom. I don't know what you hang your bird feeder on, we have an iron post used for hanging baskets and we out petroleum jelly on the post so that critters can't climb up it. I don't know if that would deter raccoons, but it works for squirrels!
Thanks for your comment!
Hello. My name is Jenn and I am striving to be a servant of Jesus Christ. I am a wife of 13 years to my best friend and a stay at home mom of 3 wonderful home educated children ages 10, 8, 6 here in beautiful Central Indiana. Titus 2:5 says to older women that we are to teach younger women "to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." This blog is my way of encouraging others to be Busy At Home.
