Jun. 12, 2008~ Thankful Thursday & Garden Update Link ~
"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whetther thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things were created through him and for him." Colossians 1:16
This verse speaks to my heart today. I am thankful for creation. That 's my whole list today! Here is a photo that illustrates God's glory...
This is my absolute favorite flower. And I have waited almost a year to learn what color it would be, as I bought it after it had bloomed for half the price. Just today, as I wrote my garden journal update, I wrote that I thought it would be a deep orange-red. Now, if it had been that color, I would have thought it was nearly just as wonderful. But, the Lord knew what color it was and He also knew that this is my favorite color! Thank you Lord! To see my garden journal update, go here. I am so thankful for this little plot of green. Giving God all the glory...
Oh Jenn, that is sooooooo beautiful. It had me fooled too, I thought you were right on your guess, but this is OUTSTANDING! What a wonderful surprise blessing! Have a great day! I just feel so inspired by everyone this morning that I need to go clean the house, make muffins, and work in the garden & flowers. I best get busy. Have a great visit with you MIL.
This is so pretty. My Lilly's are yet to bloom, but i see buds. I can't wait to see if my purple ones bloom - my white ones have. Aren't flowers beautiful?
Wow, that is an amazing flower. A Star Gazer Lillie is my favorite, but anything in the Lillie family is a winner in my book.
Isn't it something how the Lord delights in giving us some things that we don't even ask for. This is one area I really point out to my son. You didn't ask for a beautiful pink flower. You were happy with it being a reddish orange flower. Why? You were content. That made Him happy in you. So he smiled down upon you and your flower, and made it your favorite color. Now tell me, Do we serve a caring and loving God?
Your garden is growing like crazy. You give me garden envy. I'm not usually into gardens, but I think I'll go buy some Cabbage plants. They usually do really well here in Alaska. We'll see.
Thank you for such a cherry blog. You are surely an encouragement to me, and to others.
Love,
Lynn

I found more info about the clematis, too...the other saying is:
"their heads in the sun and their feet in the shade"
So you want sunlight on the vine/blossoms, but the roots in the shade. (What a finicky plant, huh? - lol!)
That is a stunningly beautiful flower! What a lovely gift from God. I love how you were patient all year, and how our Lord delights in giving us such sweet gifts!
Oooh! I love that one, too. I have a few Asiatics/Orientals, and I love them! I can never remember the difference. I think one of them has a scent and one does not. Since I cannot smell, most of the difference is lost on me. *lol* Pink is such a pretty color! Mine are deep, burnt orange.
