May. 18, 2009~ Indiana Dunes State Park, Again! ~ |
Oh, it was just pure, wonderful family time! We're so thankful for the great weather and the time together. Here is a look at our weekend.
We spent our first whole afternoon at the beach making sand castles, rolling down the sand dunes and general sand play. It was a brisk day, but lovely just the same. That evening, we had camp visitors, Jeff's mom and her friend. They ate hotdogs and smores with us after a hike up to Mt. Tom and a trip to buy candy at the camp store.
Sunday we had pancakes, bacon, coffee or hot chocolate. Jeff led us in devotions reading Psalm 19. After breakfast, we went on a long hike. You can see those pictures at my nature blog. The hike, trail 2, is beautiful and longer than any we've ever taken before. Jeff took the kids back to the beach after lunch while I rested and then starting breaking up camp.
It was sad breaking up camp, but we know that it is only a few more weeks until our next outing and to tell the truth, sleeping in our own warm bedroom last night with our kitty was nice. Like I said, our next camping trip is in 3 weeks. We're going primitive, which means no electricity or modern bathrooms. I think we are ready and I am looking forward to the challenge!

| Looks like fun - glad you got to try out the pop-up. I'll take the camper at the campsite next to you, teehe. |

How wondferful to read about your camping weekend! I wish dad and I could have gone somewhere too. Dad and I were at Hendricks Co. hospital with grandpa on Sunday early morning at 4 a.m. He fell...cuts and bruises... but no memory of it happening. All is well now, except that they want him in Depends...

Ohhh how I wish I could soak up some beach time ! I don't mean like sunbathing and trying to get a tan. I mean just like what you had. The place I met Handsome was on a island in the San Juans off of Washington State. I would spend HOURS walking and sitting on a big rock just starring out at the Pacific Ocean and just listening and watching the waves. That is what I personally call quiet waters for the Lord to bring me to.
I pray many more blessings on your family trips. I am so glad you are doing this before your 1ds is too much bigger. This year our family needs to put importance on this our selves. My 1sd is moving next year. I feel like this year will go too fast for my liking.
Blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC

That looks like such a fun trip!
Do you have a pop-up camper? I would love to get one someday. We just tent camp now (which is fun, too) but I would love to get up off the ground.
Those look like some wonderful memories you're building!
Blessings,
