~ Weekending Recap ~

We had a whirlwind trip 3 hours north to see Jeff's family yesterday.  The weather sure did not make me pine for our camping days, which was looking on the brightside, because it was rainy and cold.

First, we spent a little time with Jeff's 91 year old grandmother.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures.    I did get some photos from our next stops.

We went to a really neat orchard to buy some pumpkins, apples and homemade donuts.  They also had a corn maze, but it was raining and 40 degrees.  Maybe next year.

Then we had to say hello to our favorite state park, IN Dunes State Park.  We spent some time in the nature center looking at displays, books and playing with puppets.  We also quickly drove by the lake.

It was not a very inviting day at the beach, so we headed to the main attraction....

CAKE!!!

and PRESENTS!!!

and homemade spaghetti sauce by a real Italian!

I could say it was another wonderful weekend, and it was, until just a little while ago when I discovered that Trevor has a fever.  We will see what the week brings.  I hope he gets well because his birthday is Thursday and we have a lot of plans.

Jenn, in answer to your question, dd has chores to do which helps me. I can no longer do the vacuuming due to the asthma issues. She must complete that chore at least 30 minutes before I get home so that things have a chance to settle down a bit.

And in the mornings, when it is slow at work, I catch up on email and blogging so that I don't need to do it at home.
Dh has also been a big help. But I have also cut back on a lot of cleaning. Dusting rarely gets done -- maybe once or twice a month. My priorities have greatly changed since working. I don't care all that much about having an immaculate house. If things are picked up, laundry done, and dishes washed, I am content.

Ohhhh, I suppose your Italian friend doesn't want to share their sauce recipe? Looks like a nice weekend dispite the weather. Pumpkins are in short supply around here - the weather was really terrible for them this summer and most got only a half a crop and small at that. If I happen to grow some, I'll put some on the porch for fall decorations, else I don't bother (like this year) - no one sees them anyways.

It's cold and rainy here too - it was suppose to be nice today, but not so far. We were hoping to ride horses tomorrow, but that depends on if it clears up and dries out - it's one soupy mess. Goign to do a little shopping today. I've become such a home body, I hate going out, but sometimes ya have too.

Have a good day. Hope your little guy gets feeling better real soon.

Looks and sounds like so much fun. Hope Trevor continues to feel better, and that no one else gets it. :)

Hi, I stopped by here originally thinking that you were a different Jennifer, but I was obviously in for a different treat this morning. What a beautiful and inspiring blog. Happy birthday to you, to your son, and hope you're enjoying the state parks in fall. I'll be back to visit from time to time.
