Feb. 8, 2007 - Who's My Valentine!
Here's what we'll be doing for some Valentine's fun.
This will start a few days before Valentine's Day. Each day the kids will be assigned a family member. We'll rotate through names until everyone has had each person in the family for one day. We won't be keeping names a secret. And we'll be including mom in the mix! (Dad will have to get some other kind of special treatment - I'm still working on that idea.)
So, each day everyone is to do 3 things for their assigned person (Valentine). It can be things like make a card or craft for them, make their bed, help them clean their room, do one of their chores, play their favorite game, read their favorite book to them, etc. But it has to be something the Valentine will appreciate!
At dinner each night we will talk about the things they did for their Valentine of the day.
My secret mission behind this is twofold:
1) To teach them to look for ways to be kind to and help others.
2) To learn to appreciate things others do for you or give to you even if you think you might have appreciated something else more.
