confused and cluttered, but blessed

Excitement/disappointment...

I got the first shipment of Christopher's second grade books yesterday. I was SO pleased with what I found within the pages of those 6 books! I knew this curriculum was what I wanted, but I really didn't know it was going to be such an eternal treasure for my family. I only wish my dh was as excited. Sometimes I feel as if he wants me to 'handle' all the homeschooling stuff, but he definitely wants to make sure I am doing it right. Even paging through the math book he made the comment, "This is going to be really hard to teach. You need to make sure you do it right." I don't mean to dog on him, but if he only knew how much his support would mean! The criticism is normal, I know, of men...but the support is what we women really need.

Okay...so I need to blog!

After telling myself I don't have time to do the blogging thing, I have decided that I need to make time! I need to vent somewhere, right? It seems that most of my close friends have moved away and I hate to overwhelm my dh with my stresses when he has so much of his own. So, here I go.

I have begun to plan our upcoming school year, when I will teach my Second-grader and my Kindergartener at the same time. I must say, I am a little nervous. This is obviously a first for me, and so I am trying to devise a schedule for my Kindergartener that I can then 'mesh' with my second-grader's schedule. I am using a wonderful, old-fashioned Catholic curriculum this year that has been written out for me...a true blessing. I taught him (Christopher) Kindergarten and First grade using several different types of curriculum and it went well, but I never had a set 'schedule'. I only listed my goals, and knew I wanted to finish the books we were using. That worked well, but this year, I decided to take some help and use a set curriculum. I am excited!! If you are interested, the name of the company is Catholic Heritage Curricula, or chcweb.com.

Wrapping up the school year

We are finishing up our second year of homeschooling. My oldest, Christopher, is 7 and Cole is 4. They are taking swim lessons this week and loving it!
