Feb. 21, 2009 - Yeah!

I'm actually getting my stuff for next year's school already! I am not usually this organized but thanks to friends who are willing to sell me some of their old stuff- I am on my way! Also, thanks to vegsource.com! Woo hoo. Still looking for a few elusive items that I don't want to pay retail for but I'm sure they'll be coming along shortly.
Very excited about next year already!

Feb. 18, 2009 - It's a Shame

Today was our weekly ice-skating day with another homeschool group. This is the first time we have joined their ice-skating lessons and to be honest I don't think I will join again. Which is really sad because my girls seem to like it...
I was saddened by a couple things today. First of all at the inability of my fellow homeschoolers to see past their 'cliques' (yes, I said cliques even though we are talking about adult women!) and see the lonliness of others. Ok, yes we are talking about the lonliness of me in particular but that's not the point. I had to sit in the main room when I first got there and I don't usually do that. I usually sit in the back room so I can eat my lunch and get comfortable with a book. But today it was occupied by b-day party when I got there so I sat in the main room with the other moms. I was thinking that this would be a great opportunity to meet the other moms and even catch up with moms I've met from our own group! I was WRONG! People barely acknowledged me when I tried to say Hello and one woman actually stared me down with contempt! When I finally gave up and headed to the back room with my tail between my legs (the b-day party was gone) this woman ran, yes RAN to the table I gave up but not before giving me a snide look! These are Christian women! I was so sad.
The second thing that bothered me was there was a lady and her son who came to skate at the same time we were there. Well apparently the son is practicing for a competition and wanted to be able to play his music to practice. However a group of the hs girls like to bring music and they were not happy about having to give up control. The arguement was that this boys music was not Christian music! Understandable, right? For these girls listening to secular music is an abomination (I've always wanted to use that word-lol) and they didn't want to have to hear it. I am not arguing with their logic but rather their approach. This boy may have only had this one chance to see the Light of the World in action and unfortunately it did not happen that way. They were rude, snotty and judgemental of this pooor kid and his choice of music. How sad! I was thinking about it on the way home and it just goes to show you that "The apple really doesn't fall from the tree"! Something to remember in raising my own girls....

I made this recipe up and thought I would share with you--YUMMY!
Italian Chicken Stoup (combo soup and stew!)
3 chicken breast cooked and diced
1 can tomato sauce
1 can green beans
1 can chick peas
1 can chicken broth
*garlic powder to taste
*thyme to taste
Combine all ingredients in large saucepan and bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to low and simmer for 20minutes. Serve alone or over rice for an even heartier meal.

Feb. 16, 2009 - New to This

I've heard people telling me about their 'blogging' experiences in the past and I've always thought that my life was just to boring and no one would be interested. To be honest, I still feel the same way, but I'm jumping on the bandwagon anyway! I have no idea what kinds of things I am going to write about but probably primarily - school!
A little background info on our 'school': I have two beautiful daughters that I have been homeschooling since Kindergarten. My oldest, Mia, is now in 7th and Calista is in 4th. We are primarily a textbook kind of school but we use a variety of curriculum and other things as they are needed.
So that is the Real-Quick version of our school but I'm sure I'll be sharing more as this blogging thing goes on.....
Joey
