John Eight Thirty Two

On the same day, we went to a Nature Reserve called Gamla. There you can see the ruins of a city built on top of a hill with a shape resembling the hump of a camel. Camel in Hebrew is Gamal, hence the name Gamla. Excavations at Gamla have revealed some fascinating remains, including the ancient synagogue that was in operation at the time of the Temple as well as two olive pressing installations with adjacent ritual baths complexes. It is one of the oldest uncovered synagogues in the world. Also recovered there were six special coins minted and found only at Gamla with the inscription "for the redemption" on one side and "of holy Jerusalem" on the other. Interesting, huh? If you use your imagination, can you picture that this city is built on the hump of a camel? We could have walked 2 hours to have a closer look at the ruins but we went to another part of the reserve instead. There is a lookout point where we could have easily spent the whole day! Pairs of Griffon vultures nest on the cliffs, making up the largest flock of Griffon vultures in Israel. In the morning, the birds fly off and in the afternoon they return to their nests, flying directly overhead.

They have a camera in the nest so we snapped a pic of this mama bird off the screen
My wonderful husband takes GREAT pictures!! These birds just sit on the thermals all day, it is just incredible to watch.
Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as vultures; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.
Please note that the word for vulture is NESHER and that is what is written in the original Hebrew. The word for Eagle is Ayt (said eye t) but the translators were picturing vultures like the ones seen in Africa and because Eagle sounded much more pleasant, they put that into the English.
Not that this is a forum for semantics and arguments, but please don't believe that any particular translation from the original is infallible because boy oh boy, there are many errors.
