• Aug. 19, 2007 - A yummy meal (photos)

We had a restful day yesterday.  I put a three-legged, cast-iron pot on our gas burner, put the gas on low, added ingredients at different times during the day so that it would be ready for our guests in the evening, and it was a truly delicious meal.  While that was happening, We put up the massage table and all took turns pampering the Daddy.  He got a facial (courtesy of me) including a face mask (the children were fascinated) and cucumber slices on his eyes courtesy of the daughter (she must have seen it somewhere) and much affection lovingly bestowed by the boy in lieu of a massage.  I painted my little girl's nails and my wonderful husband painted my toe-nails.  He is so funny.

Because they had such fun making plain bread the other day, the children wanted to make something more exciting today.  We took some photos, sadly the part where we added all the exciting bits didn't get captured 'on film' but I will explain nevertheless.

First the boy stirred up all the dry ingredients.
Then, the girl added the liquid and got her hands sticky.
They take turns at kneading.  Last time was his turn, today was her turn.  She does a great job!
After the first rising it looked like this:
This is where somebody stopped taking pictures.  I will not accuse or blame, I will simply say it wasn't ME and I let the guilty party know that my blog will suffer because of the lack of pictures but there was no remorse on their part.  Sigh....
So, this bread had some added olives, cheese and onions.  After the first rising, we added those ingredients and kneaded them in to the dough.  We left it to rise again.  After it had risen, we cut it into wedges, baked them, roasted some vegetables.  This is what the meal looked like:
A bit unconventional but then again, I'm not really very conventional, am I?

Well, you know me with veggies, ;), but that bread sounds and looks very yummy. I'm such a cheater, I like using my bread maker. Though I do make some by hand. :)

Hi, Thanks for stopping by. It was my conjunctiva that was torn. Usually being a contact wearer, I have scratched my cornea several times. That actually hurts way worse than tearing the conjunctiva like I did. The conjunctiva heals a lot faster also.

Sounds like a delightful day and the meal looks yum. I think you were very gracious to not mention the name of the person responsible for the missing photos :)
