• Aug. 28, 2007 - Answering some questions.....

What kind of a homeschooler would I be if I didn't answer the what, why, who and how questions I have been asked?  I LOVE answering questions, especially when I know the answers and I also like asking them.
A few days ago, I asked a question.  Click HERE to see.  TRACY guessed a prickly pear.  Hers was the closest.  I finally found out what it is called in English.  It is a Yellow Pitahaya (
Selinicereus megalanthus).  It is similar to a prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica)in that it grows from a cactus.  The are other varieties for a Pitahaya; they are called Dragon Fruit.

The next lot of question are to do with the CAKE.  What does it say?  So I wonder if withHim4ever figured it out?  Did you?

It was for a an anniversary party.

Yes, I made it on my own while my children sat around me doing school work  It is much better now that they are older and know not to touch.  When they were younger I was always telling them not to touch.  With my little girl, I would stick red tape on the floor in a line and she wasn't allowed to cross over.  She used to sit at the line and we would talk to each other.  With my little boy, he peeled the tape off the floor.  I made a wedding cake once with a whole lot of leaves on one of the tiers.  I went upstairs to shower and when I returned to the cake, all the leaves had been diligently picked off and eaten.... oh those were the days

Ok, I'll tell you what it says:

30 YEARS
To Shmuel and Chaya
Abundant Blessings

I do not have pictures of the cake after it left my home.  Apparently everyone loved the cake and they took photos so I will wait for them.

And for the final question.  Yes, I need lots of help in the taste test department.  When are you coming over???

That is just to cute what your little boy did with the tape. And the eating the leaves, my, how typical of boys.
And I would LOVE to come there some time and be a taste tester. :)

Surely the tape incident was some indication this boy was one day going to spit off your balcony, lol. Sorry, I just crack myself up :)
I was the closest to be right with the prickly pear, does that make me the most intelligent person who reads your blog if this is the case it is a scary thought.

LOL! Careful with the invite or you'll end up with dozens of hungry cake-eating homeschoolers at your door. =D

And I have to say I could read the cake. Cause I'm just so smawt! Ok, so I couldn't read the words. But I definitely read the "30". =P

The tape idea is great!

Oh, I didn't have a chance after a left you the comment to even check it out. I am having such a hard time memorizing the letters. I learned English by hearing, then reading and was able to spell, Hebrew is another different challenge altogether LOL :)
