John Eight Thirty Two

• Mar. 5, 2008 - HERB HELP

A neighbour gave me a whole bunch of herbs.  Some of them I can identify, some I can't.  I would be most grateful if any of you could tell me what you think they are.  There was a bunch of Lemon Grass and Rosemary as well as a whole lot of Sage so it is hard to know what smells like what.

1 - This one is pale green, almost velvety with an interesting fragrance, nothing like lemon or sage or rosemary.

2 - I thought of Geranium when I first saw these leaves but they are not, it is hard to say what these smell of.

3 - These leaves are small and soft/limp.  I know, a very professional description - these have quite a distinct smell too.

4 - Not the greatest photo but I think this is a type of Sage?

5 - I might be wrong but I think this is Oreganum?

Any ideas??

Sorry, I have no clue, though I have seen those herbs before. Did you try doing an online search for herbs? Maybe they have pictures. :)

#3 looks like something I grew for awhile. It was very hardy--the last of the herbs (given to me by a friend) to die. I'm trying to think what it was. Thyme? Lemon myrtle? The last one does look like the oregeno plant I killed first. Sorry not to be of more help.

#5 looks like my Oregano so I think you are right there, And number one looks like my lavendar. Now that I have said it, does it smell like lavendar?

The flat green could it be flat leaf parsley?

Enjoy experimenting with them.
