• Feb. 23, 2009 - Roasted seeds and nuts
Around the corner from us is a seed and nut business. A few days per week the aroma of roasting shells comes wafting up into our apartment. This past week we got to see them doing their work up close.
They were roasting watermelon seeds on that day. They soak them in salt water overnight and then drain them in the morning.

They then transfer the seeds into oven trays.
They trays are then taken to the very hot drawer ovens.

Against the back wall you can see some trays that have already been taken out of the ovens. Those seeds are cooling before being packaged and sold.

Have you ever eaten roasted watermelon seeds? |
