So we are on week 3 of our homeschool adventure and we are already taking it to the streets. My hubby is on a mission trip this week that I couldn't go on because I couldn't take the kids. He is in Mission TX at Palm Valley Church and they are ministering in Reynosa Mexico during the day. Today they are stuck at the church due to Hurricane Dolly though....anyway....I took this opportunity to get out of the house for a while since it's not that fun staying at home without him. I have been at my Mom and Dad's since Monday and we have continued our homeschool as usual. Lorelai put her backpack on today and pretended she was going to school. I asked her "where's school?" She immediately said "school is everywhere!"
Yea! She gets it!
This week's theme is summer. We made a sun out of her handprints yesterday and colored pictures of a beach scene, a kite, and a sailboat that I printed off the internet. For math we have talked about ordinal numbers and small and large. I have made cards with the steps to a recipe that we will make when we get home (I did forget a few supplies in the rush of packing but we can easily get caught up). We will make the recipe and then Lorelai can put the cards in order. My Mom bought her a book of mazes and also a thinking skills workbook that are great. We have gone from fighting tooth and nail practically, to begging to do school in a matter of a couple weeks. Her progress is astounding to me! Her Sunday School teachers have noticed a change in her behavior even!
