In His hands

Feb. 19, 2008

Today

Well today I am doing laundry.  Our 4 year old son is sick with Influenza.  He has been sick since Sunday.  But I think he is doing better.  Praise the Lord!  So this week has been a relaxing week.  We are getting our house ready to sell.  We got all walls, cabinets, trim and base boards touched up with paint .We put in new carpet  in the upstarts living room ,hall way and the stairs.  So now we are waiting for the weather to warm up so we can put out the for sale sign.  We are going to try and sell the house on our own and if that doesn't work we will go through an agent.
We are planning on going to a homeschooling conference in April and this will be the first time we have ever been.  I really don't know what to expect.  I hope I can meet some home schoolers that are of the same mindset as us. I hope I can get a lot of ideas and a lot of help and guidance from this conference.  I am looking forward to it.
Today is pretty cold.  This Morning it was only 19 degrees brrrrr.  After I got a fire in the fire place going it took so long to get it warm in here but it finally got warm.

Feb. 20, 2008 - homeschool conferences

Hi! There is a conference I want to go to in April, the Greater St. Louis Area Home Educators Expo. (whew! long title) I may not be able to go, though. They are fun, and you can learn alot! I have a tip to share, though. The first time to the vendor hall, leave you money at home, take a backpack and a notebook & pen/pencil. The backpack is for all the free information you end up with from various vendors. The notebook is so that when you see something you like, you can make a note of it, which vendor had it, and what the price was. I learned the lesson the hard way. You buy the first thing that you really like, and chances are, you will either find something you like 10 times better, or you will find a better deal. Been there, done that. You can also use your notebook to take notes at the seminars. If you are comfortable splitting up, you and hubby can attend different seminars at same time and fill each other in after, so you don't miss anything you really wanted to hear. Or if you don't want at all the paper stuff, you can write the vendor's website down, and leave without any papers to sort through later. Also, check online to see if your conference has a website, most do. They usually list a sampling of the speakers and vendors, and a map of the facilities. Sorry I wrote a book, and if you already knew all this. It makes me excited for you that you get to go!

Blessings as you go through the house-selling process! I love to watch HGTV hows about getting homes ready for the market- very informative!
I bet your convention will be a good thing. I homeschooled for several years before I went to one. Now I wouldn't miss it!
Take care of your little guy. Hopefully he'll be feeling better very soon. Influenza is ROUGH!
Blessings,
Kim

Feb. 26, 2008 - Hi

Hi there! I just wanted to say that I came across your blog by "chance" and I find you are very interesting. I just started this blog thing yesterday so I am totally new at it. I am also a homeschooling mom of 2. I also have sold our home without the help of an agent and it's fairly easy. We got our asking price at the first open house. I hope it goes that easy for you. I also would like to add you as a friend. Would that be ok? (That's if I can figure out how to do it!) Take care and God Bless!

Hi,
I just read your comment on my page and I was thrilled to see you wanted to be friends too. You asked how old my children are, they are 9 & 12. This is our 2nd year of homeschooling. I also don't have many other homeschooling moms around here so getting to know others is a blessing. Some days can be quite difficult when you have no one to chat with.
I pray your house sells quickly. We bought a book that showed us how to do it. And I also watched a lot of HGTV and asked our bank for help. They were surprisingly helpful! They printed up sheets for prospective buyers to read concerning our house (ex:what the payment would be with a certain downpayment) Our bank offered the purchasers of our house an excellent rate if they went with them. Am I making sense?? Anyhow, they were great help.
Homeschooling through highschool will be a challenge but well worth it. I am thinking of it too but most people I know aren't too fond of the idea. Oh well, we will do what God leads us to do.
Take care and God Bless!
