It has been a hectic week and here I sit, a pile of work to do waiting for my attention, blogging. But alas, Fall allergies win out and I feel less than stellar. Friday was our first co-op of the season and the kids were super excited to participate in gym this year. We skipped it. By the time we ate lunch and ran two errands I was so stuffy and icky that all I wanted was a quilt and a nap. I promised them that we would go next time and I promised myself that I would take better care of my sinuses. Which brings me to my latest thought process - boosting our immune systems. I have some probiotics, vitamin c and a good, strong echinacea and other herbal tablet that will just about knock out anything sitting there. I have to get us in the habit of taking our medicines and for the kids that means crushing it all up and placing it in a milk, peanut butter and banana smoothie. I'm also cutting down the amount of sugar we consume before we go out. Sugar can cause your immune system to weaken for four hours consumption. Four big hours. Due to my diet we already have very little sugars in our meals, but before we have to leave the house I strive for even less. I've been lax lately. I know none of this will help with allergies, but the way they make me feel reminds me of how horrible those colds are when you get them. What do you do to boot your immune system to help ward off the winter sickies?
