New job New Language
|
For those who don't know, long story short, I am starting a new job part time. I am going to be a server at a nice italian restuarant. I have gone through many emotions but am not almost looking forward to it now. I have to go through training and tests so I am not so looking forward to that part. Which brings me to my news, learning a new language. I have to memorize the menu and the ingredients in the menu items.....Ack. Can someone say not good memory due to hypothyroid..yes, but I have so many prayers going up on my behalf and you know what? I am almost done with the appetizers and I just got the book last night!! Yippe! Still have MUCH to go, however, I see that it can be done.
So, my question, why do words look so different than how they actually say them? I have to see the phonetic spelling to get it right but have to know how to say it. Like Bruschette....broo ske ta or Cozze .... Kot ze where did that t sound come from. Okay, I know you don't care but I'm just saying. While I am studying I might as well learn more than just the names. Getting hungry yet? How about some Mozzerella Marinara or Bruschette of the day or Calamari? All right,
I'll stop.

wow.. You are brave. I hope the new job goes well for you. I know it must have been a hard decision, but you will do great I am sure. Don't forget to save time for youself!!
Languages. I tell you what! I am over our own language, and it is probably because it is based on so many other ones. We have thrown phonics out the window right now. Marissa struggles so much with it, and every other word doesn't fit the phonics rule anyway! She can read great without it. It's just learning to spell that's the problem. I completely understand!! Spanish has it's own complexities, but at least "a" says "ah", and "a" always says "ah". : ) Good luck!

I'm sure you'll do fine. I waitressed when my dd's were younger and really enjoyed it. We were new in town so I was able to meet a lot of people that way. I miss it sometimes. Just getting to know people and such.
Keep us posted on how you do.

Oh wow, what a surprise. Didn't know you were looking for a job. Will you work when your husband comes home? Or will you need to look for someone to care for your children. Maybe I missed a blog where you shared you were looking or needed a job? Sounds like you are doing well on your studying. I know if this is what you want and have a total peace about it.... you will learn it really fast. God bless you on your new journey.

Hello,
Over the weekend I was typing up a comment for this entry on your new job and new language. My dd's learning italian. Last Fri. she did the whole days meals in italian...loves to cook. i hope you can get a chance to drop by her blog and see her entries...maybe you two could help each other :) She has an italian blog but she's going to transfer her entries from there to this one Fun4Girls but this is her italian blog There's not much there, I think because she had so much to do with finding a nich in studying it ... no time to redo or what to do on a blog...so I think it will be fun to bouce a few things off each other.

on your new job. How are your kids feeling about your new adventure? Hubby and I are looking into moving out of our home office and renting an office downtown in a little historic town nearby. This will mean homeschooling in the office on most days. We are excited about this since the children will be able to learn the "tricks of the trade." I hope all goes well and this is a real blessing for your family.
