Peace and Joy

 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,

we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, t

hrough whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.

And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that

suffering produces perseverance;

perseverance, character;

and character, hope.

And hope does not disappoint us,

because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man,

though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:

while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since we have now been justified by his blood,

how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!

For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son,

how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Sep. 26, 2009 - Science Games

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.    Genesis 1:1

We are using "Science of the Physical Creation in Christian Perspective" by Abeka for 9th grade science this year.  Since my 9th grader's favorite subject is NOTscience, I've been looking for ways to make it a little easier and fun to study. Yesterday we discovered a really fun, easy to use website to create flash games. Teachers are able to enter the questions and answers to personalize the game, or may choose from an enormous list of games other teachers have made.

Not only did my daughter think it was awesome, but the boys heard us having a good time and wanted to make games out of their lessons, too!

My daughter helped me create the games ~ we picked vocabulary term and concepts out of the "Science Manual with Lab Demonstration Exercises" that coordinates with the Abeka curriculum. I had her recite to me the answer and question that I typed in. (She was learning and reviewing just by creating the game - shhh - don't tell her!) Then, of course, we had fun playing the games to reinforce the concepts.

   In fact, she played them several times with a smile - now you know if I ask her to keep studying the terms with just the textbook, she wouldn't be smiling!

Games we made to go with Chapter 2: The Atmosphere:

Chapter 2-1 Terms: Speed Match Game

Chapter 2-2 Terms: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

Science 2 Matching: Jeopardy Review Game

I hope these may be helpful to other who may be using this curriculum, also. We will add new games as we make them. Have fun!

Flash Who Wants to be a Millionaire Review Game  Flash Jeopardy Review Game

There are also a Speed Match Game, an Online Board Game, and some other interesting flash tools.
