I'm sure many of you are familiar with Steve & Terri Maxwell of www.titus2.com ! They have my all-time favorite books and resources! I love their family's philosophy towards life. It really comes through in one of their more recent books, "Managers of Their Chores". If you have Managers of Their Homes" you know how helpful their organizational ideas are. "Managers of Their Chores" goes further into detail on how to get your family organized to complete all household chores together.
I'm only partway through the book so far, but I love how Terri explains in detail the reasoning for why children should do chores biblically. I already agreed with the fact that they need to do chores, but reading her philosophy went beyond the basics of chores being good training etc. It talks about how our culture is so focused on pleasure and having to have fun and how unbiblical that is. Chores train our children for the real world and help them to not be such self-seeking, pleasure-oriented people.
It also includes the details on how to organize what jobs need to be done and who should do them when. Best of all it includes a "chore pack" with plastic "badges" that the kids can clip onto themselves. Inside you put all the tasks they are to carry out throughout the day in order. As they accomplish the task, they move it to the back and do the next task. I know my children can get very distracted and forget what they're supposed to be doing so I'm excited to have something tangible for them to use to help them stay on task!
Anyways, hope that helps someone out! If you check out their site, you can't go wrong with anything you buy from them!
