| Last night after I put my baby down (the last to go to bed), I decided to do what I should do every night, and spent a short time praying for each of my children. As they were all in a deep sleep at the time, I stood by each of their beds and laid my hands (very gently) on some of them as I prayed for them. Something about being there next to them and seeing their precious sleeping faces and touching them really brought home the awesome importance we have in raising these little ones. The only thing that truly matters in raising our children is that they grow up to become the person that God wants them to be and love him above all else (no matter if that's how I think their life should look or not). How are they to become this person? I think one key ingredient is persistent prayers on the part of parents. Being next to them and watching them as they slept really helped me in focusing my prayers. So, I will do my best to spend some time each day, if only a few minutes in prayer for each of these children individually. |
