Last week I posted a blog on praying for my kids each night before I go to bed. Click here for the whole blog article. When I pray for my children I go into their rooms while they're sleeping and sometimes lay my hands on them (very gently!).
When I posted that blog, I had just started to pray for them in their rooms like that. I wanted to post a follow-up because it has been such a neat thing for me. Being in there praying for them in person really helps me to forgive them of the things that happened that day, to pray directly for those things that are difficult in their lives, and to think about what is of eternal importance in how I parent them and order my days.
I also find myself during the daytime having more of a prayerful attitude when I deal with their wrongs. Sometimes as I'm going through a problem with a child, I can picture myself by their bed praying for them and seeing their sweet sleeping faces. I can picture my emotions of the night before while praying for them and some of the regrets in my parenting that I had while I prayed. It helps me to change my parenting of that moment to the gentle, loving parenting that I desire to have.
Anyways, I just wanted to encourage others to take that time to pray for each child, and if you are up past them, to go into their rooms and pray over them. God answers prayers! |
