I haven't had time or $ to take my baby (who is now 7 mo. old) to get portraits. Now that we have 6 kids, it's getting to hard to keep up on all of that. I do really like photography and like trying to take my own portraits of my kids, so yesterday I took my baby outside to get some pics with our camera.
One tip my dad gave me when we were out on a walk once and he was taking a close-up pic of something was to stand farther away from something and zoom in close if you want the background to be more blurred. I tried this when taking the pics of my daughter. The one pic that I think most looks like a true portrait-type pic I was able to get this affect. I'll post that one and another one that is just a cute pic where I like her smile better, but I don't think it looks as much like a professionaly portrait. Anyways, it's something I enjoy tinkering with.
I really like this - just wish she was smiling a bit more...coloring seems a bit white too on her skin...
Cute but not as professional-looking as a portrait
