The Road Less Traveled

• Fri 11 May 2007 - Books We're Reading

Posted in Home Life
Here's our current book reads (besides the Bible - the most important book of all):

Read-alouds with my older children

Christian Heroes: Then and Now - George Muller
What an inspiring book on the power of prayer and how God can use someone praying in faith for all things! I sometimes while reading this book am completely amazed that this truly happened in real life and isn't fiction! I love all the Christian Heroes books put out by YWAM.

Prince Caspian
2nd boook in the Chronicles of Narnia. It's been awhile since reading the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. I found the 2nd book in our bookshelves and picked it up and we've all been very drawn into it and are enjoying it quite a bit!

Books my 2nd grader is reading

Christian Liberty Nature Reader Book One
This my son reads during school time and takes notes on it. After reading it he types up a sentence or two or three about what he learned and wants to remember from it.

The Adventures of Paddy the Beaver by Thornton W. Burgess
I can't recommend the Thornton Burgess books highly enough! These are wonderful books and are great for my son's level for an early chapter book. They're nature stories where the animals have personalities and talk. Very entertaining and well-written and even have some moral value in them. There are over 20 "The Adventures of..." books with different animals as the main character.

Books I'm Reading or Recently Read

Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining, and Bad Attitudes...in You and Your Kids by Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller
Very good book about teaching your kids to honor one another and yourself to honor your kids and spouse! Maybe I'll do a full book review on this some day...

Books on composting
I'm hoping to start a compost pile this year so am reading up on it. Maybe I'll try the worms first for my kitchen scraps...
