Today I've been unpacking more of the things we don't use as much. When we moved the first two times this past year, we left MANY boxes unpacked and just lived on the necessary things. Now that we're settled for a while, we're finally digging into all of those less necessary items boxes and book boxes. It's interesting seeing the things we've accumulated. Before moving I did get rid of TONS of stuff so I have already de-junked quite a bit, but I'm sure there's much more de-junking that I will do as I unpack these things - especially since we have less storagae area in the house.
It's amazing all the things we accumulate! You would think if I didn't need the stuff over the last year, I shouldn't really need it and get rid of it, but that's hard to do with some things. Today I was getting out my nicer dishes and putting them in the hutch that I have that I haven't been able to use in my last 2 houses. I'm sure there are some of those things I could get rid of, but if it all fits in the hutch, I might as well keep it for when I want to use nice dishes.
I also have been going through my decorative stuff. I haven't decorated either of the last 2 places we've lived in this past year since I new it was very temporary. It is kind of fun getting out the knick-knacks and all. Makes it feel much more like my home!
Anyways, I'm hoping to de-junk more stuff as I go along. I'll get rid of lots of stuff on freecycle or donate it to the thrift store in town. Other stuff will hit the garbage. Too much stuff makes life difficult! In going through my bookos, I have found quite a few books that I'm trying to sell. I'm on a momys e-mail list (a list for mothers with many young siblings) and they let you post for sale items in an e-mail to the group. I've sold some things but still have lots of things left. If there's anyone here who would be interested in receiving an e-mail with my list of for sale items, just e-mail me privately at melanie@encoreink.com and I'll send the list to you. I think I still have some homeschool items, lots of parenting/family-type items and religious books.
Some examples of a few books I'm selling are:
Home-spun Schools by Raymond & Dorothy Moore
Fandex nature cards
For the Children's Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay - talks about Charlotte Mason education
Family Fun boredom busters (great for summer vacation for those who take a break during the summer)
Taking Charge of Your Fertility - great for understanding your body whether trying to or not get pg or just to know what you're body is doing
The Usborne Children's Encyclopedia
The Preschooler's Busy Book
Teaching From Cupboards and Closets
The Five Love Languages
And much more!! E-mail me for the full list! I'm selling things for pretty cheap. Of course I don't want to clutter up all of your homes !
Books are never the clutter culprit...its all of the other "stuff", LOL.
We love books. If I could line my walls with shelving/bookcases, I'd be thrilled. Of course, if I could have a library such as the Beast did in Beauty and the Beast, I'd never come out of there!
It must be fun to unpack the things you haven't seen in years...kind of like Christmas all over again?
