We recently finished reading about Goerge Muller for a read-aloud. Most of you probably know that he's the man that started orphanages in Bristol back in the mid to late 1800's. It was so amazing to read the whole story of his life! While I was reading I kept wondering how the story could really be a true story!
By the end of George's lifetime he had built 5 orphanages that were housing over 2,000 orphans at a time! He never asked for money to do any of this but just prayed to the Lord about his needs and the Lord supplied all of the money to build, run and care for all of these orphans! Just think how society makes it seem like having more than 3 or 4 kids would be such an impossible expense and imagine doing that for 2,000 kids!
It just goes to show that God's power is truly limitless. What God wants to accomplish can be accomplished by his power! He used a humble and willing servant to accomplish his task.
After finishing reading this story to my older 2 kids, I turned to my oldest and asked him if he thought it was pretty amazing that they were caring for 2,000 kids. Of course he said yes. I then told him that you never know what it is that the Lord has planned for his life and that God can use any person. I tried to emphasize that the Lord has a plan for his life and his job is to know God and follow his will for his life and God could use him in wonderful ways as well.
How about you and me? Can God use us as well? Maybe we won't be feeding 2,000 kids each day (even if it feels like it sometimes!), but by humbly surrendering ourselves to him, his perfect will and work can be done through us as well. May we humble ourselves and seek God and his will first!
