I recently found out about a book swap website where you can send out books to people and receive books back for free other than the shipping you pay when you send a book. You start by registering and then after you post 9 books you're willing to send to someone who requests them, you get 3 free credits for requesting books from other people. Then when you send a book to someone who requests it, you get a credit for another book for you to request. The website is http://www.paperbackswap.com .
You can also go in and make a wish list of books you want and then when someone posts that book, it will e-mail people on the wish list to let them know that the book is available and give you a chance to get it. I went in and posted 9 of my books I was trying to sell. Five of them were books on people's wish lists. They get 48 hours to decide if they want the book. You can also go into the book and see how many people have requested the book on their wish list. I will probably get a seller for most of these books and will then have maybe 8 credits for books. Almost any book with an ISBN is in the system to put on your wish list. Who knows if anyone will actually ever have those books to send, but it's worth a try!
In browsing the books, there were definitely some that were currently available that I would be interested in. The downside of this site is that it's definitely not Christian so there are categories of books that aren't Christian. You need to decide if that bothers you or not. I guess if I went to any local bookstore, I'd be buying a book from a business that sold books I didn't agree with so it's probably no different than that.
Anyways, it should be a great way to get some more books that we want!
If you go to this page on Paperback Swap you can get your ID embedded in a link. That way, anyone who is referred to Swap through you will be credited to your account. You get 1 free book credit for each completed referral. Here's my link as an example:
