OK - I know that there aren't monsters and kids shouldn't be encouraged to think there are BUT....
We were getting ready to clear the table the other day and the kids were a little slow to get started with their work and were getting distracted. At our house my servant dh rinses and loads the dishwasher and does the dishes. I stay at the table and make sure the kids carry all the dishes over to him and do other clean-up jobs. As I said, they were a little slow in getting started with the clearing so I said, "hurry, you need to start clearing the table, the dishes monster is getting hugry!" To which dh started making sounds like he wanted to eat some dishers. So quickly they all started bringing him their dishes and he in like turn started pretending to gobble them up as they handed them to him. They worked really fast and got the job done quickly in order to keep daddy busy eating dishes! Now I just need to tell them to feed the dishes monster and they start quickly clearing the table so they can see daddy "eat up their plates"!
