We got a Christmas tree this year from the trees behind our house. My husband worked for the guy who owns them helping with the harvesting and we were given a tree along with the $ he earned. We got it up and decorated last week-end. Some years it can be a bit of a frustration getting it all done and letting all the little kids help! This year it was much more relaxed thankfully! We got the tree up on Thanksgiving morning, put lights on that evening and didn't decorate it until that Saturday.
One helpful thing we did which helped the ornament decorating go much easier was to get all the ornaments out and laid out on the table with hooks on before we started putting them on the tree. The kids then picked which were their favorites or their own that they especially wanted to hang themselves, then I let them go ahead and decorate the tree. This way I was able to just enjoy standing back and watching (and taking pics of course) and dh took care of the 1yo and they didn't need us to get things out and ready. It was much more enjoyable and relaxed!
