Well pooh!  I tried out the new (to us) VCR today and it doesn't work.  I'll have dh take it and the receipt back and exchange it for a couple of new shirts for him.  I plugged it in at the store and it turned on but it ate a video and wouldn't give it back.  I got out my trusty screw driver and took it apart to get our video back.  I don't think I put it back together correctly but since it was already broken the store would have just trashed it anyway.  Note to everyone!  Please don't donate your broken stuff to your local thrift store.  All your doing is increasing their garbage bill and inconveniencing other people.  Just toss it in the trash or give it to someone who can fix it.  I had to plug the old, broken one back in as it's the only way we have to connect the dvd player and get tv reception.  We'll try again another time.  Meanwhile all of our videos will continue to gather dust.
