Contest II #6

Idea by naturalpaths

When Marina read this idea, it was her favorite. Of course, I had to ask her what a Jacobson's organ was. (What? I've got a lot to keep in my brain lately!) The fact that my daughter understood this when even I had a question mark over my head lead to this strip. It is wonderful how our children apply what they learn!

Congratulations naturalpaths!

Contest winners: I will be in touch with you. Please allow me a few weeks to get your color copies ready. Thanks to all who played!

That was a fun zoo trip! Give Marina a big high five from ds1 - he'll love that someone else knew what it meant!!! This turned out really lovely - thanks!

I'm not sure where we're going with the new blog. Ds1 wanted a place where we could take turns posting, so it's a family blog of sorts even though it'll just be the 2 of us. For now we do seem to be leaning heavily on a nature theme.

Yes, we can relate, too. When we were visiting down in Texas last year, Norman's aunt & uncle took our family to the zoo. I think his aunt thought that she would be "helping" to expose our boys to something new and educating. :-) It wasn't long before our oldest got excited and exclaimed, "Wow! Here's a cross-billed (something or other--I don't remember the exact name of it. ha)." He wasn't reading any sign, either. He went on to explain all about it. He did that with other exhibits that we came across. Norman's aunt finally admitted that she was impressed that he knew so much. Ha! He loves to read on his own, so he soaks up information that I don't even know. I think they find it fun, too, when they come up to us and tell us about a new thing that they learn on their own and realize that we didn't know it. :-)
