I have to admit, the three strips for this week are more of an issue relative to all parents, but just because we homeschool doesn't mean we have nothing in common with schoolchildren's families! We still have to figure out how to get ourselves out of bed after a night of disturbances and somehow function during the day. (I am grateful to the self sufficiency of my two older children, it means that I can sleep in occasionally and not worry that they will goof off.)

Last week was a long week. Thank goodness, Sierra slept better. Last Monday's ballet went much smoother. I think I've pinpointed the tantrum problem as a low blood sugar thing. Feeding her a plum and some juice before class seemed to help her cope better. We had Marina's knitting circle here on Tuesday. Counting siblings we had eleven kids running around our very little house, but they had a good time! Luckily, I took a yoga class in the morning, so I was very relaxed for it. Wednesday we played catch up on their studies and Chase had Tae Kwon Do. Thursday was Nature Class and Tae Kwon Do again. By Friday, I was so in need of another yoga class I managed to run out without my purse! Ah well, the best laid plans...I tried again for a later class and wow, did I need it by then! In between all the activity I was suffering some major writer's block on this set of strips (oh yeah, I knew I had some point to make) and a migraine, so the fact that I actually completed it by my self imposed deadline is nothing short of miraculous!

Go Punxsutawny Phil! No shadow this year! That means an early Spring or he got enough sleep, I forget which. According to an article I read, that was the first time since 1999 that he hadn't seen his shadow.

My humbling experience in writing quarterly reports: you really don't have to write all that much. My father and other schoolteacher friends who would occasionally check my quarterlies reiterated that they didn't do this much. Of course, they had classes of 25+ students, but that's beside the point! The school only wants to know that you are following the home instruction plan you wrote and that you are meeting your goals.

Can you believe I'm up to my 50th strip??? I honestly thought I'd get bored with it by now and stop drawing them. Thanks for all the support, encouragement and comments from my friends. You've made these possible!
This week will focus on New York regulations (not a surprise if you read some of my entries from last week) and how I approached them when I first started homeschooling. Thankfully, I have learned and it is not nearly as hard to write them now that I need to do two each quarter. I still get nervous about them, though. It's that fear of judgment thing.
Enjoy!

It's all right, I know some of you didn't understand the last strip. This one should clarify the situation. If not, well, they can't all be winners.
Thanks to all who responded to my second list of weirdness!

Today we celebrate and remember the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I copied some quotes below. You can find more at the Brainy Quote site.
-Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
-Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'
-Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.
-We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.
-Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
