Tuesday, June 6, 2006 - Extreme Clean: HomeSchool Edition Part 3

I was so bushed last night that I slept in until 9am today!  I woke to the smell of coffee early ...

Mom made chocolate scones with the boys ... boy were they yummy!  I had a marketing meeting with TOS peoples and got some work done.

Then we really started the day!  I went through a bunch of stuff in our dining room...we wanted to move the TV cabinet and the sectional in the dining area and move some other things out in the living room.  I know that sounds weird -- but when I post the pictures you'll understand why.  It was a busy day of dusting (which I haven't done in probably over a year!) and moving furniture around.

We moved the dining table and brought the chairs up from the basement. The hutch was moved.  We even ate dinner at the dining table tonight!  We put a rug (stored since we moved) under the table -- it looks awesome!  We completed the look with a vase of flowers that Daniel and the boys brought us from the grocery store on Saturday.

We moved the sectional and the TV cabinet and all the TV stuff.  I have our stereo hooked up to it for surround sound...and of course all the cables and such for the DVD and VCR players.  We moved the shelf of movies and DVDs too...wow...we have a lot of movies.  But, we also don't have cable.

Mom cooked baked chicken, new potatoes, green beans and macaroni and cheese.  Boy, it sure is nice to have Mom cooking.  I hate to cook.  I told her if she'd move here and cook for me we'd build her a wing.  She has yet to take me up on that.

The boys spent most of the day outside playing with the neighbor kids. There were a few scuffles that had to be dealt with, but overall they did great!  The kids even helped us haul some things up and down the stairs.

Tomorrow we will work on the family room since we moved the TV cabinet and media shelves.

I forgot to mention all the little things that Mom has fixed that I've procrastinated on.  She's done the following:

1.  Glued a freezer rack back together.

2.  Fixed and glued a door that had fallen apart on an antique wardrobe.

3.  Fixed the screen door on the front door.

4.  Got the boys to paint a nightstand.

5.  Sprayed the back sliding screen door with WD-40 -- works like a charm now!

6.  Got daughter motivated to clean out a nightstand and a chest in her room.

7.  Cleaned out a corner of my kitchen counter.

It's been another great day of accomplishment... and we've only been at it for two days!   What will we be able to get done in the 5 1/2 weeks we have left?!?

Hey...I also filled up two bags for Goodwill!  Woo hoo!

As I'm writing this, we just heard some raccoons fighting up in the trees.  If you've been following my blog, you know I don't have much patience for any more raccoons...they better kill each other in this fight.. haha!

Stay tuned for more updates from the "Extreme Clean: HomeSchool Edition"...

Alex will be taking pictures tomorrow!

Will you (and your mom!) come help me when you're done? I'll do room and board and... hmm... homemade bread??

Seriously, what a great job it sounds like you're both doing. Makes me itch to get something more done here than just laundry. Hee.

Have fun!

Keep up the good work, my dear! What a blessing to have the Mom you do! Mine is due to arrive in 12 days!!!! Also from down south- south of the equator...hee-hee! I wanted to make sure that you knew- Woodman's is open!!!! Corner of Oak and Orchard- better variety and prices than any other store around- in my opinion. If you haven't already, check it out- they are open 24 hours so you could go whenever it suits you!
Happy decluttering!

Friday, June 9, 2006 - Sounds like you've been busy!

Doesn't it feel great when you get a room all clean and decluttered! I don't think it sounds weird moving your rooms around. We did this last year because our dining room/class room was getting a little cramped. So we switched our rooms around to. It's wonderful that your mom is there helping you.

I wanted to enter your contest, then got sidetracked! I was going to suggest "Julies houseful of living clutter" or something goofy like that!!! But I really like the name you picked. And it sounds like you are doing great!!!
We are getting our house ready to sell, and I am really liking it here more now that it is less junky and getting all fixed up. I won't want to move anymore!

Well, I have been keeping very busy over at my blog. Did you see I am being hailed as the blogger of the week??? I am just a little bit giddy and very blessed.

You are a dear friend and I love all the sweet little notes I find you posting here and there about me. You are a total nut! (Takes one to know one, right?)

Oh, and when you are all done with your mom, and if she decides she doesn't want her own wing.....SEND HER DOWN HERE!!!!!

Love,
Nancy B. (byhisgraceincolorado)

I'm so happy you're doing this...I know you'll feel like a million bucks...I'll be anxious to see the finished product, IN LIVING COLOR!

Keep going, and I know it'll look like a castle!

Julie-
I think it's so wonderful that you are posting this. I am waiting on pictures. I have been cleanign out here but it is usually a spur of the day thing. I threw away three garbage bags full of junk yesterdya from cleanign out this weekend. Things sure feel nicer when it's decluttered.
What a special blessing you have to have your mom there.

Tuesday, June 13, 2006 - Pictures? You are busy aren't you

Posted by Sandra Daigle

We are still waiting for the pictures. Please include mom with the super S on her chest and a really big red cape. Just wanted to make her laugh. I am an old friend of hers from Louisiana and I remember Little Julie.
Julie all I can say is WOW you are grown now with children. I have to say you look so much like mom to me but I am sure you have some dad traits but I never knew your dad.
I like your blog. Mom told me you had one so I looked it up.
God Bless and could you please pray for rain. My yard smells like hay it is so parched. I am not kidding.
