Tuesday, August 23, 2005 - 8 year old with a blame-shifting problem...
I think my 8-year-old has a blame shifting problem already -- for which he will need full recovery before he gets married....here's the scenario from earlier today...
"Mommy, can you wipe me?" (said child has not conquered this yet...give me a break, he's the baby!)
"Sure, be there in a sec."
Mommy wipes bottom....child goes off to play for a couple of hours.
Child comes in from playing..."Mommy, you didn't wipe my bottom good enough earlier. It hurts...can you wipe it again?"
"Sure. I'm sorry honey I must have missed a spot"
Mommy proceeds to wet the toilet paper down and wipe better. Child's bottom is still red and hurts.
"Mommy, it still hurts."
"Honey, I'm sorry but I did the best I can do. It's really red & irritated. It's probably going to still hurt for a while even though I wiped it good."
"But Mommy it still hurts....it's not my fault.....you didn't wipe me good enough."
To which Mommy does not respond.
Said child will be wiping his own bottom from now on so that blame shifting wiping of the bottom does not happen again.

Almost everyone in our family (yes, me too) uses those wet wipes. But be sure to get the wipes in the toilet paper section and check for flushablility. It is all too easy to pick up baby wipes by mistake. The packages are the same. However, wet wipes are flushable and baby wipes are not. Ooooh, that would be bad. Stopped up toilets are no fun.
