ThE w0Rld

Many of life's problems and tragedies are what I'd like to call "Acts of God". Meaning ~ circumstances we may never understand. Things that happen ~ terrible things ~ for a reason, but we don't know that reason. The reason remains a mystery, something we may never know or understand.

*9/11/01
*Hurricane Katrina
*Hurricane Rita

^-^
These horrible disasters I've listed above are confusing and heartbreaking.

We don't know why God allowed for them to happen. We know He has a plan

in the end, but it hasn't been revealed to us yet. We don't know why so

many people died during these events. So many innocent lives lost. And for what reason?

Other problems ~ issues and tragedies ~ that happen in our own home

and life might be the direct result of consequences of our sin. But again we

may never know for sure.

Just pray. Pray for all the families who have lost lives through these horrible events. Pray for courage, strength, and endurance. Pray that no more

innocent people will die. Pray for comfort, safety, and good friends to help these people through these tough times.

Don't be angry @ God. He has a plan to help us. Of course, we don't know

what He is planning after all this sadness ~ but we know that :

GOD iS iN CONTROL!!!

NEVER doubt that - not for one second...because God cares about

e a c h & e v e r y o n e o f y o u

He lovess you and wants you to love him back! DON'T think that He doesn't

care about the people that die during these types of tradgedies, because

he does.

His heart breaks e v e r y  t i m e someone dies. Every time.

So what do you believe? I believe that God has something MUCH better in

mind for ALL of us. Something special , a gift you could NEVER receive anywhere else. Nowhere else. That gift is eternal life. The people that died during Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and September 11th, 2001 don't

have a second chance ~ but you do. Will you take that chance? I have.

Some of the people that died during these events had given up their lives to Christ before they happened. They're in Heaven right now with Jesus & God.

I'm going to see them one day...are you?

But ~ only if you accept this gift.

Will you?

~Alex

Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - Bought another pool...

Posted in My Kids

Well I took the pool back to Walgreen's.  We found another one at Menards that is bigger & comes with all the accessories!  In case you're interested, it was $160 -- comes with the cover, skimmer, vacuum, pump/filter & a ladder!  Much nicer/bigger pool.  We'll have to wait & see if the filter works properly!  After the pains I've had putting up the other one & then taking it down ... and now the hundreds of gallons of water we have used filling this one up -- it better work!    The kids have had a blast with the pools!  Here's a pic of them in the other smaller one...

Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - Backyard Pools & Hot Days...

Posted in My Kids

I was just reading through some of the other blogs and Nancy was writing about their WalMart pool that took 6 hours to set up...got me thinking about our recent pool adventure.

After a VERY hot & humid day last week, I decided to save a few bucks this summer by not getting the $250 city pool pass  for our family of 6 and purchase one of those fancy (cheap) backyard pools with the filter, etc.  Great deal at Walgreens  $80.00 - $20.00 rebate = $60.00 for a 10" X 30" pool.   Yes, it was kind of a pain to put together.  I was sweating like a hog...but it wasn't as hard to put together as Nancy's in KY :)  And oh the fun the boys had after we got it filled up!  The neighbor girls came over and played for hours that day and for the next 2 days.  I finally got to meet their Mom, invited them to our church's VBS, great outreach BUT......Just a warning for ya....make sure the pump/filter is working.

Yesterday at church I noticed my 9 y.o. son had a very red face.  Upon closer examination he had these red/pimple like bumps all over his face!  I lifted his shirt up and they were also on his back and stomach.  My other 2 sons had some of the red bumps too but not as many.  It looked worse this morning so I took him to the Dr.   ... so long story short ... he has a skin infection caused by the bacteria from the pool -- oral antibiotics for a week, Zyrtec antihistamine that won't make him sleepy!  And the 2 neighbor girls that swam with us have the bumps too!  Nice way to impress the neighbors, huh?  The Dr. said it is a pretty common thing to happen ..mostly public pools and also hot tubs where the water is warm and the bacteria grows rapidly.

Arrggg....  after paying the $20 co-pay at the Dr. and the $40 in medication .....   .....maybe we ought to get the city pool pass after all and cut down on our water bill...
