Where Do You Get Away to Pray?

When I've read the Bible lately, it seems like I am always reading about people "getting away to pray".  David, a man after God's own heart, tried to get away to pray many times - usually before battles.  Jesus was constantly getting away to pray, to a mountain top, a garden, or just anywhere He could find to get away alone for a while.

Being a homeschool mom, I have found it hard to get away to pray.  Sometimes I feel like there is not a place in the house that I can find peace and quiet to really sit down and spend time in prayer with my Lord.  Today, I found a great unlikely place to get away to pray.  We have a bench on our front porch that looks out on our front yard.  While the children played outside, I read my Bible on the bench and prayed.  It was actually quiet (we have a big front yard), and I was right in the middle of God's beautiful creation too.

Today, I had the best conversation I've had in a long time with God, and it gave me such a peace and a more solid direction of where I'm going in life.  I've missed that lately.  I pray every day, and I read my Bible almost every day, but I haven't been able to really connect with my Lord like I did today for a while.  "Gettin' away to pray" gave me a new focus, a peaceful feeling, and a renewed sense of awe for God.  I hope to "get away to pray" more often.

Today's "Life Little Moment":  When I am able to get away to a quiet place to pray, my prayer time means so much more.  My goal is to try to do this daily.  Forgive me for being "away" for a while, Lord.

Do you have a place you "get away to pray"?  Do you struggle with finding a place and time for this as well?  If so, I'd love to hear from you.  Please drop me a message with your ideas or experiences.

Love in Christ,

Julie Grosz
