Okay, not mine or any of my kiddos (of course the oldest is just barely 6), but I am sure it will come sooner than I think. I do not know if I will ever graduate from the school I am currently in. This past weekend we attended a home-school graduation. We personally knew two of the grads and knew many of the other families as well. Let me tell ya, for me these little ceremonies are such an encouragement. Growing up I knew very few homeschoolers and really just one homeschooling family. I love to see grown up homeschoolers that have incredibly bright futures ahead of them! A home-school graduation is nothing like a public school grad. I mean. all I remember from those is a line of people, walking across stage shaking the hands of other more important looking other people. But at the home school ceremony each individual family got up. They showed a slide show of each individual life and then the parents shared. I was in tears the whole time (not uncommon for me). As I looked at all those baby pictures, I realized that those on stage were not long ago babies. My babies will, not long from now, be graduates. I don't want to miss the moment, I want to immerse myself in there smallness and pour as much love into them now as I can. I want to experience each accomplishment with them, encouraging them to take the next step, but not pushing....for soon they will be far ahead of me. I want to foster the friendship that we will eventually have. I want to quit letting the small frustrations ruin perfectly good days. I want to be a good teacher, no, an excellent teacher. Not only academicaly but with my life. Oh how I need fall at the feet of the only One who can do this through me. Please go and congratulate this graduate! She is a woman of God with many adventures yet to come! |
