The before breakfast snack.
|
Okay, in a previous post I mentioned that I let my kids snack before breakfast. Why? you ask. Because it saves my sanity. They are hungry the second they wake up and I (although I am up early) am not usually ready to serve breakfast. So, I allow them to have a banana, apple, piece of bread or sometimes a homemade graham cracker. These things are healthy and I consider it part of their meal. Yes, I could have breakfast ready to eat the moment they get up...but most the stuff I make is better fresh as possible..plus, I never know exactly when they will wake up because most often it is staggered (meaning they don't all rise at the same time). I also enjoy the fact that the snack gathers them all at the table and keeps them busy therefore, delaying the morning pandemonium for a little while.

I think letting your kids snack before breakfast on those healthy foods is great. I for one am all about saving my sanity as well.
You sound like a wonderful mother who dearly cares for her kids. Keep it up!!

Hi Cammie, I have enjoyed your site and do hope you plan to blog more. I know you are now expecting a little one and are dealing with tiredness and morning sickness along with little ones.
But I'm curious and would love to learn about your healthy living and child raising. I have been changing the way we do everything here for the last 2 years. I was raised by a very selfish and abusive mother and don't know the old ways of women.
We have been learning (dh and I ) how to make and eat and grow too our own healthier food. How to parent differently. Much differently! And how to live as dh and dw as more christian and godly balanced.
The whole family raved about the graham crackers and I will be making more.
I was was wondering. Do your cloth diaper? breastfeed, wear your baby. That kind of thing.
I know your homeschool. We are homeschooling for the first time this year and I love it. I am schooling 5th grade, 2nd and preschool.
Sorry if I sound snoppy. I really, really don't mean too. I would just love if you'd share the knowledge that you've learned that has helped you and your family.
Thank you and God bless.
