Flylady asks us to look at our homes as if we were a realtor. Today a dear friend of mine had a surprise visit that led me to think of my house from the perspective of another "professional" - child services. The fear of such a person coming tends to sit on the back burner in the minds of homeschooling parents every where. What will happen if social services comes to call? Is my house in order enough that they accusations will not stand? As I sit here a look at my main living space, I think it would. This space only though. Not the front entrance. Not the staircase. Not the bathroom. Not the kitchen - dishes all over! Not the basement - piles and piles of laundry; toys everywhere; boxes of "stuff"! And then there is the renovations going on too. I don't think they'd sign off on the case with the first visit.
Sigh.
My dear friend who had the visit has a week to get her place in order. Her man is jumping right in to help! And so will the children be helping. What an encouragement that is!!! I'm going to join her in her task and get my house to the place where I can say, "Yes, my home will pass the social services' test!"
What's the plan?? Crisis clean. Declutter. Routines. We'll be working together, keeping each other on task. Sending each other encouragement as we can.
We are trying to get our house in order and have been de-cluttering. We have taken bag fulls of stuff to the charity shop already, and we still have lots to do - feels like it is never ending!
