I'm putting these books separate because we haven't actually read them. I've skimmed through them and read bits and pieces. They look so interesting with lots of little facts. These are books that will be used with our Canada Study.
M is for Maple A Canadian Alphabet is a great overview of Canada facts. Not only does the verse have facts in it but the author has also put facts int he sidebar that match with the letter of the page. I learned reading this book!!
The Kids Book of Canada is a brief overview of each of the provinces including a timeline of when each joined Canada. Then there are also short paragraphs about each provinces' bird, flower, coat of arms, flag and other such things. The main industries are listed and described. Again, I learned just skimming through the pages.
Crazy about Canada is different than these others, in that two cartoon characters go through asking questions and finding answers about Canada. The book doesn't talk so much about the provinces and territories as it talks about the animals and the land itself and finally some history and such.
I have bought all four of these books for our study and I know we'll use more from the library as well as the internet. These are great resources for the elementary grades or for anyone interested in just learning a little about my country.
