Thankful Thursday - My Husband's Job

I can't believe another week has gone by already!!!  It can't be Thursday!

But it is!  And I'm glad that it is.  This week has been incredible.  Fun.  And full.  And next week is going to be great too.  DH has three days off during the week next week!!

I am so thankful for my dh's job.  He loves it.  Okay, the politics get to him.  He just doesn't understand the way most women in today's society work and most of who he works with are women.  Anyway, the work itself is great and he's good at it and even learning new things!

He gets benefits too.  We've never had benefits with a job before!  We pay for half and the company pays half.  We were a little miffed about how much we had to pay but the benefits are so worth it.  We've had to use them so I'm thankful for the extra money we put out for the extra insurance!

He gets holidays / vacation days!  Never had those before either!  That's why the extra days off this week!  I'm excited.  We have nothing planned unless our dirt comes.  Then we'll be planting the garden.  If not, we'll find other things to do.  We won't be bored and even if we are, that's not terrible either!

He works close to home.  He gets to bank his overtime hours for when the baby comes - days off or a payout.  He makes enough that I can stay home!  He can take extra days off to go with my to my midwife appointments.  His job is flexible.

Mostly, I'm just thankful that he provides so well for us.  He hasn't always been able to.   Sometimes the work just wasn't there!  I mean, we were always taken care of, because God's storehouses are full, but . . . you all know what I mean!

Thankful Thursday - Somewhat Silly Things For Which To Be Thankful

Evening all.  This is a little late!  Oh well, I can still be thankful today too, right?  Here it goes!

I am thankful for my small and not so small appliances - dishwasher, clothes washer, mixers, crockpots.  These are my maidservants!  (A reference to/from Elizabeth George's Beautiful In God's Eyes.)  I need to use my "servants" more often and more consistently, but even still, I am thankful for them.

I am thankful laundry baskets.  They are great for everything - moving, traveling, shopping, organizing, storing children.

I am thankful for coffee.  Sigh.  It's warm.  It's comforting.  It's "home".  It's an evening chat with my hubby.  It's a break from the real world sometimes.

I am thankful for my computer and internet connection.  It's my other life (I don't know how else to say it) and my children's education source.  It's fun and games and learning and information.

I am thankful for clean tables.

I am thankful for my pillow.

I am thankful for the green leaves and grass that needs to be moved already.  It's just so pretty after the long cold winter.

Thankful Thursday

I haven't really taken the time to be thankful this week.  Nothing wonderful or amazing or miraculous happened.  It was just an every day kind of week.  So as I sit here, typing this, I'm thinking back over my week.  I have much to be thankful for this week.  In no particular order, these are my thankful thoughts:

  1. friends from the fire department
  2. open communication with my DH
  3. home remedies
  4. a wonderful church family who agrees together in prayer
  5. a DH who does above and beyond his "share" of the workload
  6. a DH who helps me get "caught up" on housework when I get overwhelmed
  7. Apple Pie!!
This week I've struggled with an infection and with headaches.  (Hence, #3 and #4.)  Both are getting better.

I hope you have a great week, with much to be thankful for!

Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday again.  And I am thankful!

I have four beautiful children and God has blessed us with to keep and guide and train.

They have been blessed with bicycles, secondhand from our church family.  This is an expense we have not had to make!

They have been blessed with the use of the neighbor's trampoline!  This simple contraption entertains my four for hours!!  My children range in age from 6.5 to 1.  The four of them jump and jump and play.

I have never had to buy my children beds or bedding!  We've been given bunk beds, and twin beds and toddler beds and cribs, and fold-out Dora couches.  They have been given beautiful quilts and neat sheets.

My children have been blessed with toys.  Some I have bought.  Today Lego is the hit!!!  They haven't played with it for weeks.  I can see hours of fun with these today.  Their dolls and doll equipment have been gifts.  Stuffies (as any mother knows) are coming out our ears!

My children have clothes.  More clothes than they will ever use and I get offers of more a couple times a month.  This includes shoes, boots, and jackets.  I have had to turn down clothing because my house was becoming overrun with bags and boxes.

I am thankful for my children.  I am thankful that they are not a financial stress.  I am thankful for the church family and community that we have that supports us and whom we support.  Thank you, Lord!

Thankful Thursday

This is my first "official" Thankful Thursday.  I think I've done another on this blog at some point.

I have a number of things that I am thankful for this week.

Sheets that fit my bed!  We have a queen size bed and until this week only had ONE fitted sheet that fit and that was only a mediocre fit at that.  On Saturday we received some packages in the mail from my MIL.  Included in those boxes were two sets of flannel queen sized sheets!!!!  Sleeping in my bed has felt like a luxury this week!!!

A husband that helps out when I'm tired.  I am almost 14 weeks pregnant with our 6th baby.  The morning sickness and exhaustion has been almost unbearable.  My DH has been doing more than his fair share of housework, cooking, and child care.  This is on top of fighting fires with the local volunteer fire department, his normal job (9 plus hours a day) and getting things together for our garden.

Gifts of food and clothing.  These gifts have come from many different places - our church, extended family, friends.  I rarely have to buy clothing for my children or myself.

Books, education, learning.  I am a homeschooling mom.  I love books.  I love our local library and the ladies who work there.  I recently won a gift certificate to Chapters.  I was able to pick up 4 or 5 books.  These books are ones I had been looking for and wanting to buy for a while.  Our budget wouldn't allow for that kind of expenditure.  I'm thankful for contests too.

The warm sunshine!  My children were able to play outside ALL DAY!  It was lovely for them and for me.  Spring has seemed a long time coming this year.  We got like 2 feet of snow in late April.  That's not normal for us, at least in our experience!  So everything is muddy again but it's so nice out.  My children are tired but fighting sleep!
